I freecycled my SC as everything tasted 'chemically' and I really am more of a Remoska person, but have got an old one-speed SC from my late Mum and am bravely doing some of Mr M's pork cheeks with onion, celery, carrot, stock, bit of wine. I plan to put some prunes in later (we love them in pork casseroles) but please could a wise SC user tell me when I should add them ? we aim to eat at about 7.30 tonight and I put pork on at about 10.30 this am

Can I just ask a quick Q? I bought 3 packs of casserole beef (that's the name on the pack!) in Tesco (3 for £10 packs) & its like sirloin steak only a bit thinner. Can I use this to make beef in guinness seeing it is casserole steak but not stewing/braising steak?

Th only thing I've done in it is rice pudding & its getting boring!

I bought one of these packs too. Yes can be used for any type of stew / casserole. I used mine in a S&K pudding in the slow cooker too.

SC don't lose much liquid (unlike oven meals) so enough to cover the meat by 1/2 inch will be fine.

If you are adding veg put it at the bottom and cut quite small, diced or thin slices.

Today I'm doing a mock Christmas meal with slow cooker pork shoulder, roasted veg & tatties, Yorkshire puddings and stuffing! Recipes all from weezl's Christmas week planner. :D

Smells delicious, can't wait to eat it.

(her recipe actually roasts the pork, but I didn't have room in the oven and prefer to taste of a slow cooker anyway)
