I know it's a bit early, but I thought I'd tell you that I always put my Xmas Pud in the slow cooker late at night Xmas Eve and leave it in the pot in water on low unitil the dinner is served and it is perfect.0

In the SC yesterday (but eaten today as well) I chucked a load of ingredients in and ended up with an amazing sausages casserole! I only did it cos the freezer had an issue and defrosted loads of stuff so i had to cook sausages. I used:
6 pork sausages
6 or 7 carrots
2 onions
tin of tomatoes
beef stock cube
dried sage
seasoning
No browning, no pre-cooking, nothing. Think it would work well with beans or lentils in it (but I like neither). Could've done with some different veg, would've liked some sweetcorn but wouldn't it end up totally overcooked after 7 hours in the SC?
Anyway, I was well chuffedSum quod sum.0 -
Mines on in the daytime for a change, sausage casserole *drools*
I have some baby new potatoes defrosting as they were starting to look a bit ropey so i cooked and froze them, they`ll be added a couple of hours before the end of cooking to reheat through

Can I just ask a quick Q? I bought 3 packs of casserole beef (that's the name on the pack!) in Tesco (3 for £10 packs) & its like sirloin steak only a bit thinner. Can I use this to make beef in guinness seeing it is casserole steak but not stewing/braising steak?
Th only thing I've done in it is rice pudding & its getting boring!0 -
This week I've done chilli, and a beef & red wine casserole.
Next week I'm doing the beef again, and also doing moroccan lamb.

I did 2 lamb shanks overnight with onions, carrots, balsamic vinegar, herbs, pearl barley and flageolets and there was enough for 4 of us with some left for tomorrow. Served it with boiled new spuds and savoy cabbage.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
