An enormous ham hock (£2.18 from the farm shop), potato, swede & onion mix leftover from yesterday's Cornish pasties, more onion, end of celery plus leaves, bay leaves, thyme, some of those tiny garlic cloves I accumulate - and water of course!
Oh and a carrot, and green lentils...
  • Cheap shoulder lamb chops in mine today with veg, gravy and mint. Seving with mash. Yummy

Venison, mushrooms, etc in red wine. :j
  • I have a bag of diced pork in the freezer I was thinking of popping in the slow cooker later this week (defrosted of course!) but dont know what to put with it. Dont want to do a stew. I got as far as browning the meat off then chucking in the SC with a jar of sweet and sour sauce. Bung it all on before I go to work.

    Anyone got any better ideas?

thunderchild pork is lovely as goulash in the s/c.
don't have the recipe on me right now but basicly any goulash receipe and then bung in s/c when it gets to the oven bit.

I did a whole chicken yesterday in a cider / stock / mustard liquid, put in carrots and celery as receipe said, it smelt good but tasted rather average and had managed to come out beautifully cooked and moist but was dry to eat. Have decided it was the cider and so won't be trying that again!!

Also did a lemon pudding which was steamed - very yummy will be doing that next time I have guests around.

    Meal plans include:
    pork and chizoro casserole,
    sri lanka beef curry,
    Cauliflour balti
    mince beef cobbler

When I've borrowed or bought some smaller cake tins / bowls I will be trying
    Plum & polenta cake
    Vanilla Cheese cake

Just chicken thighs snoozing on a sliced onion with 1/4 pint stock in mine today. Meat will be stripped off and used for pasties, chinese curry and pizza topping this week. :)

Chilli is yummy made with chunks of pork, just use your usual recipe. Sometimes it stays as chunks, sometimes all falls apart - either way is good:)

I think I have some Chilli mix in the cupboard, I could use that up and get hubby to throw in some butter beans for me. (I cannot stand kidney beans). When I put the beans in the morning with the meat they are a bit yuk by the end of the day!
