:j I managed to fit both the huge ham hocks in the sc last night - just :D

They just fell apart when i took them out this morning and i had to go fishing around for the bones. I now have lots and lots of meat to portion up and freeze. This should last quite a while if i can stop picking at it when i go to the fridge :p

Broomstick - I like your idea of the cheesy leekie dish, hope that someone has a recipe as i`d be interested too :D *drools*

Proper Shepherds pie (with diced lamb rather than minced) is bubbling away right now.

Last weekend I went cooking crazy - the SC was almost on 24/7 - I cooked lamb stew, beef & ale stew, veggie curry, spicy red lentil soup and pea & ham soup (stock left over from SC ham joint)

Together with the Shepherds pie from today, excluding tonights meal and the soups, we'll have 20 freezer meals!

  • a warming, healthy soup with 2x sliced carrots, 1x sliced parsnip, a small chunk of swede diced, half a small leek chopped, 2x small potatoes diced, 6 chunks of frozen spinach, half a chopped courgette, a vegetable stock cube, a tablespoon of pesto and a few dried porcini mushrooms and a kettleful of boiling water....

Did a horrendous lamb stew yesterday - just tasted really bland and the dumplings were foul - so the SC is going to be flung back in the cupboard in disgust! Until next week when I'll want to use up the rest of the lamb...might try a curry next time, any slow cooker lamb curry recipes/ideas?

I don't like lamb in the slow cooker tastes odd whatever you do to it, had no problem with any other meat though.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

I did a gammon shank today. The resulting stock is cooling in their at the moment, ready to make a warming soup tomorrow (soup & broth mix currently soaking!).

SC cooker novice here again :) I don't have any advice on the lamb curry as I am very much learning here, however, I just put my version of kleftiko in mine and hoping for the best. Mainly using up veggies as need to replenish my stock today :)

I seasoned lamb chops with oregano, rosemary and salt and pepper and did the same with the veg: carrots, potatoes, celery, parsnip, onion. I put the chops in between the veg in the pot, added juice of a lemon and then put the lemon on top fopr extra flavour. A drizzle of olive oil for depth of flavour and a little chicken stock, maybe 150ml. It will be ready by 6pm - will let you know how it came out.....

Just back to report the kleftiko worked really well. Maybe a tad too much oregano on the lamb but great taste and consistency of the sauce overall. Two portions eaten and two portions in the fridge for tomorrow along with other leftovers.....fancy a cooking free Sunday :p
