True, can't resist the odd BB, XFactor etc, but they are fairly 'safe'. You don't get the abuse level that exists on other boards.

i have to reply to this post, i have worked in supermarkets for the last 8 years and currently work for Morriosons. A lot of the posts on here do providea case for both parties.

Yes the customer does/should come first, however this stops when a customer then becomes abusive, why should shop staff accept abuse, would you like if i came to your place of work and became angry?

Why do customers stand in the way when you are moving stock onto the floor, why customers complain at the slightest thing, is it a case of as soon as people cross the front door they change?

For the OP, why didnt you ask to speak to the dept manager or in this case the cake shop supervisor and ask why the cakes were removed, alternatively the duty manager would have been available. The cakes may have been removed for other reasons that you standing there.

As one of the other posters mentioned, there is nothing worse than a reduction vulture in the store. I am sorry the OP had a bad shopping experience at this store, i imagine they have shopped there before and so i would like to ask if they have had a bad experience all the time.

As for writing to head office come on?? Everytime a customer bangs into me with thier trolley or bring their screaming kids into my dept or even their domestic issues for all to here can i write a letter to your home address and complain to you?

This is a petty post by the OP and got a petty reply.

You work in a service industry, and are paid to give the customers good service.Customers are not an inconvenience that gets in the way when you block their passage with large cages of produce. Indirectly they pay your wages.

A lot of supermarkets are open 24 hours a day. As far as I know, they do not require their workers to remain on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The stuffs reduced in the first place because its short dated. I don't actually think they are legally allowed to sell these items after 11pm, if they are 'fresh today' or on the sell by day. Hence my first post mentioning that a Morrisons (who don't have any 24hr stores to my knowledge) worker wouldn't be able to hold on till the end of a shift, as the store manager would have had the items taken away from the shelves by then.
  • The problem is, I made it known that I was about to buy the box of cakes, the women knew I was about to buy the cakes, I told my wife while standing next to her that I was going to but the cakes, she knew I was simply waiting to see what it was reduced too, and she then took it for herself.

If people cant see a problem with that, then the mind boggles.

I suppose if something is cheap for the first 10 customers in a sale, that is also all right if 10 members of staff take it for them selves, after all they can still be customers?

I'll wait and see whether their head office agrees with me or you.

Yeah I think that's fair enough. What do the shop care, as long as the stuff is sold? It's still money in their pocket, it doesn't matter to them whether it's came from a member of staff or a member of the public.

If this is the only way you feel you can get your point across then you are a very sad human being.

yes agreed, i work in a service industry, not i am open to abuse industry, we are paid to give good service however we are also entitled to recieve good manners.I try to limit the inconvience for customers by getting stock out on the shelves so that customers can buy what they came in for and that way the more they buy the more i get paid. So if customers want to stand in the middle aisle blocking it whilst chatting to their friends about this and that, thats fine, but when they complain that the shelf is empty who has caused the inconvience there? Its a bit of common sense really. You see a pallet of stock coming towards you, do you A. Stand there and make the pallet go around, B. Try and just nip in front so it makes the pallet stop, or C. Just think for a minute and move out of the way to let it past.
