very interesting thread ! so glad i found it, its paying better than my isa. i only stumbled on this by accident as i am researching a new isa as mine is currently paying me 0.20% on 10k.
is it a lloyds tsb classic account, then add vantage once its opened "can i add vantage online"?
basically i would just like 1 account. with say 5k in it "savings" but i dont want my wages paid into it, i just want it as a savings account.how do you / i get around this please?
can i put say 6k in the account, then say on the 5th day of the month have a standing of 1k go to my hsbc current account, then say on the 6th day of the month have a standing order from hsbc to put it back into the classic account.
or i may open 2 and swap 10k between them? whats the best way if i do this please.
also is it likely to be withdrawn in the future, how long has it been going for.0 -
To save you the hastle of transferring your £1K each month, set up standing orders from Vantage 1 to vantage 2, and Vantage 2 to vantage 1 (or however many you have.
I only log on every 6 months or so to check it's all running smoothly - which it is.
thank you for that, i will do that ready for next month, have just done my transfers for july shame i didnt come on here first lol!MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

I am not sure but I think that the funding of the LLoydstsb Vantage accounts needs to be after the first working day of the month, which is not till tomorrow.
I am sure I've seen this discussed on this board before, I certainly don't fund on the 1st working day of each month for this reason.
Someone missed out on interest for this reason, and for a few more clicks of the mouse later in the month its not worth risking.

i fund on 1st day of the month and have no problems0

thanks for the replies on that, ref the first of the month, I will be adding to them mid month any way when i get my redundancy settlement, so if it is too soon that should counteract it and then from next month on will set payments so after the 1st of the month to be on the safe side.
many thanks for the help, i appreciate it.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
i applied last night for this account, after the online application it said they would email me to confirm receipt of my application.
ive heard nothing by email yet?
i thought i would have had an email by now?
im even doubting if i entered my email address correctly, im sure i did though.0 -
I've just received their welcome pack. There is a 'Signature Mandate Form' I have to sign & return to the 'SMD Unit in the enclosed A5 SMD personal envelope (525645)'. Well, the only A5 envelope in my pack is for the 'Direct Current Account Opening Centre' in Andover, and there is nothing for the SMD Unit. But then I thought, what's the point cos I shan't be drawing on this account so they won't need my signature. Others agree?0

I presume you intend to operate via the web.
It would be useful to be able to make cash/cheque/debit card withdrawals in case of emergency.God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -

Yes, I shall use this only as a savings account & swap £1000 in & out via my main account. No need to send their signature mandate off then I think0 -
