Do NOT destroy the card, you will need the card when you call LTSB customer services and they run you through the security questions.

Also, if you wish to open your second or third vantage account over the phone, you WILL need to have the card for the primary account with you -- without which you cannot go forward with the application process.

I have never needed to call them in the 2 years I have had an account.
I am keeping the card for the first account and disposing of the subsequent ones.

Converted my current account to a Vantage account and put in £7K which will be funded with £2K every month. Opened a 2nd account and put in £7K and have arranged a standing order for £1K from 1st Vantage account into 2nd account (a day later). Is it okay then to open a 3rd Vantage account and put in the £1K which I transferred from 1st account to 2nd account say also a day later which means £1K appears one day and disappears the next day but I will still have the £7K in the 1st two account and hopefully if I open the 3rd Vantage account I can put £7K into that but just make sure I transfer out any extra over the three lots of £7K.

    Is that right?
I had 3 Vantage accounts. When doing my monthly moving the £1000 from one vantage to the other I saw an invitation to open another Vantage. So just for fun I tried it and it worked; a few days later the paperwork arrived and the account was there. I phoned Lloyds and the nice lady said, you can have as many vantage accounts as you like. So now I have 6. I am limited by the amount I have to invest; 4% is a very good interest rate. It's beyond me why any bank should limit the amount I invest with them. I went into Lloyds to argue about my ISA which they are failing to transfer and I was told 1) I had to go into Lloyds to transfer my ISA in person (not true, unless they don't transfer it as requested) & 2) I can only have 3 Vantages because that's what it says on the website. Yes that's what it says. But my experiment shows this is not true.

Lots of thrifty savers in this forum! I intend to follow you and open some Vantage accounts. Can you tell me whether opening the first one requires you to switch all of your existing current account arrangements (DDs, SOs etc.) from your existing bank to LTSB, or can you just open the account and keep your other current account?

no need to switch, just open current account then once it appears online upgrade to vantage!
  • Can anyone else confirm that LLoyds have relaxed the rules .... no longer a max of three accounts?

I have some maturing funds and would love to be able to bang them away at 4% !!

Guess we will only really know one month down the line when the accounts pay their first interest?

If they've been confirmed as Vantage, then the interest will be paid.

If they have relaxed the limit, they haven't updated the website yet. http://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/vantage.asp still says Customers are limited to a total of 3 Vantage Accounts.

Yes that happens. Happened when I tried to open my second and third.
Just keep trying it will eventually let you apply.
