Evening all,
Had quite a productive evening tonight, despite not getting home until 5.30pm, and having worked my !!! off today in school. Found out HT is human this morning as she cried at staff briefing this morning as some of the parents had been having a go at her due to her closing the school and then reopening it yesterday. Needless to say, I wasn't the first to put my arm around her, despite being sat next to her, after her lack of sympathy for me, and the fact that we missed all our PPA time because of it all. Oh dear, that turned into a rant again! So, what did I accomplish? Got home, put a load of washing in the machine, sorted out all of the floordrobe into washload colours, and tidied the bedroom floor of clutter. De-cluttered my purse of old MrT vouchers that had expired, and put the new ones in - will have to remember to use them this time. Got OH to run the hoover around upstairs, the landing and the stairs, and to bring the washing in from the TD. He hasn't put it away, but he is so hopeless at folding sheets, that I may as well do it myself, as I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
School work - I did all of the forms for maths, reading and writing, to say which children hadn't made progress, why, and what I'm going to do about it, and I'm pleased to say it only took me about 2 hours, which I was relieved about as colleagues said it took them ages! I did have my kind colleagues memory stick though so I could copy and paste some of her ideas, which helped a lot, as they are the maths and literacy co-ordinators in school. After school, we had a staff meeting in my key stage, and we looked at a couple of the writing assessments that we did in school today. One of my boys has really come on leaps and bounds, and wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't made a whole level progress by the end of the year (that's if his new teacher is as good
). This really cheered me up, and seeing the attendance figures of my set today made me realise that it couldn't be just my teaching that meant they made no progress in maths - some of them are only attending 65% of the time!
Happy birthday to Kazwookie - hope you had a fab day.:bdaycake:
Congratulations to rach's DH on his exam results - hope you enjoy the Chinese.
Hugs to Sunnygirl on the loss of your puddytat - your post brought back memories of my old moggy that we had put down when I was little. I still have his photo and that of my cat who was run over up on my bookshelf.
Glad you got home from Winchester safely LadyL - I was worried about you when I saw you were heading out into the snow up there. We'll have to catch up soon.
Am taking a stressed colleague out to Starbucks at the weekend to cheer her up, as she was in tears yesterday morning - similar to what I was like before the holidays - she'd been to the doctor though, and they'd been really unsympathetic, and she's been too scared to take the antianxiety tablets in case she's on them forever. They are the same ones as mine, except they are half the dose, so I'll try to get her take them, as I'm sure she will start to feel better when she does. Poor thing is wasting away through all of the stress - she's lost a stone and is only 8 stone now!
Hope the date went well Valli.
Well, these sheets aren't going to fold themselves, so I'd best stop chatting.
Hugs to all who need or want them.

Hi everyone
I didn't go to work today as I still have a terribly stiff neck and felt dizzy and a bit sick. Went to GP's as a precaution, as suspected it will hurt for a few days but then should start to improve. It has really hurt to sit/stand with my head unsupported so work was a total no go. I have rung in this afternoon and said I won't be in tomorrow either as it is my long working day and I can't see me being able to last it out and then have to drive home.
So I have had a very lazy day, Miss A is 10 today so I have spent quite a bit of the time reminiscing, it has gone so very fast this last 10 years and so much has happened. Miss A as had some lovely presents and cards, she has had a great day
I hope you too have had a good day Kazw.
Have just skimmed the thread as I can't sit here too long, am off to bed soon. Hugs all round and huge congrats to your DH Rach, enjoy the champers

Pigpen, when DS1 was worse with the change of beds (and before I got matching sets to rotate which he can still tell the difference butttttttt......he's better than he was) I used to strip them and remake very first thing. He helped get the sheets off. I did take the bottom sheet off, vacuum and put it back but it helped deal with that 'issue'. I can wash/dry replace them all in the same day IF I use the TD.....which is on the blinkypoo. We're not past the 12-13 stage here yet, can your mother try freecycle/freegle (knowing you have had issues with there) small mens stuff won't be far off either as it's the size I've started to get DS2.
We tried freecycle with no luck.. it is difficult mid-seasons I think, but his mum has been ill for a while.. she got his school uniform and it was all the wrnog size so had to be changed first day of term.. then his out of school clothes haven't been replaced for about a year. She is schitzophrenic and has other issues.. and is just very ill right now.
We tried that with bedding but he would wail and cling to his dirty bed sheets.. it was dreadful when he used to wet the bed (until he was almost 7) and would want the wet bedding still on.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I know this is off thread and not about me flying (or not) at all but you ladies are some of the sanest and wisest people I know, and I really want some advice from impartial people.
My 40th birthday is coming up soon and people are asking what I want for my birthday. I have asked for an ipod from dh and some itunes vouchers to go with it. Apart from that I am really struggling to know what to tell people when they ask what I want. Truthfully there is nothing I really need or even want that much. I am not materialistic, dont really give a stuff about a new mobile (mine costs £20 and texts and calls). Am also sat here watching news about the terrible earthquake in Haiti and wondering about whether to ask people to give a donation to their relief fund instead. If you were my family/friends/colleagues would this strike you as weird or would you think it was ok? Don't want to offend people but really struggle with asking for stuff, when really I am trying to cut back on all the unnecessary 'stuff' I have. I have felt this way for a while about Christmas and birthdays and all the rubbish that gets bought (no offence to my family) and I do like saving up and waiting for things.
Sorry to ramble on but I am very confused about what to do - don't want to upset people or make them think I'm some sort of weirdo either. Any comments welcome.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Welcome WMathilda, I'll give you a tree so the powers that be know you're new :xmastree::rotfl:
I almost texted you from the train this morning as I was so mad when no one gave me their seat, and I was so tempted to use the stick as a weapon as you suggested!!
Oh you should have texted! I'd have given you advice on how to hunch up like an old lady leaning heavily on your stick and then breathing heavily and erratically as well as coughing. Then if no-one complies, how to effectively bruise their ankles with said stick without them realising it was you!
You've made me remember being on one of the last Route Master buses in London (you know, the ones without doors which you could hop on and off at will and which had a clippy!) before they became tourist routes only about 3 or 4 years ago.
I got on the bus, it was full so I stood (and was perfectly capable of standing!), there were several early teenage boys sitting on the bench seat bit. There was also an elderly lady sitting on the same bench. She saw me standing and turned to the boys and said, with pure East End accent and authority "Offer this lady a seat now!" in such a voice that they all got up at once and viola, I had a seat!
Maybe we need to start up an agency of such ladies to travel around the London underground and bus services with the express purpose of reminding people (particularly blokes!) of their manners!Hello All :hello:
I discovered Flylady may years ago, but always seem to lose the mojo to keep it up. Please may I join you all to keep me focus and to get out of this chaos that I'm in?
Welcome Sabs - I'll give you a tree.. :xmastree:
Lil-me - top news on the value of the final bill!
