Just realised that although I have candles for my emergency box I don't have any candlesticks and can't remember the last time I saw any on sale.

Hi Crafty, I had a long powercut before Christmas and used tea light holders and bottles

I lit a candle and melted the base of another on to stick it onto the base of a tea light holder and then stuck others into an empty bottle which I keep stocked for home preserving

A pack of 8 household candles from the £shop burnt very well indeed

I used to just put mine on a saucer, after dripping some wax on that to hold it

    Hi everyone

May I join now, half way through? I am not quite sure how the posting on the thread works, but I will print the list from the first post as a guide.

I have a day off tomorrow, so will try to do as much as I can, and then follow the list.

So far, today I have persuaded myself to tidy my threads and needles box and mend my coat (wanted to do it for at least 2 months now :(

Oh, and I kicked myself to bake a pumpkin cake (we grew loads of pumpkins this year and pumpkin soup is now coming out of our ears, so really have to use it up some other ways/ recipes).

I am not good at posting, I tend to read posts more, so I hope this is ok..
    Thank you
    :hello::xmastree::xmastree:
No need to post really( although we are a nice bunch...so you should:D) if you only want to follow the lists for your own benefit thats fine too;)

have forgotten to do it all day....HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAZWOOKIE:T:T:T

Have caught up with the thread!

Roads and some pavements around here are much better but there's still loads of snow and ice at work. Took the children onto our astroturf today and the snow was still a good few inches deep - they loved it!

My rubbish was collected today :j and I have washed up, and done some bits off the list. Am really tired though - must be these 2 or 3 day weeks!!

    kazwookie - Happy Birthday

    Valli - have a lovely evening x

    chazsucks and Tomato - welcome

And I would just like to say that I do not have any odd socks - let alone 20 :D:p

    Thank you, thifty
I made a big batch of plum chutney 2 or 3 years ago, and nobody was keen on it. I heard it is good with sausages, but every time we have sausages (not that often :)), everyone goes for ketchup or musturd.
I found a handy list of pumpkin recipes on BBC Good Food and am going to try them one after the other.

    kazw Happy Birthday!!!!

Hi everyone :) been a busy day with meetings and stuff but swimming cancelled tonight and DPs needed my car so DS2s taking night off cubs, I don't think it's actually been on since Christmas. We got a little snow overnight so a few didn't make it. Was a really busy meeting but a lot done at the same time. Been sorting some of the list I came away with to sort since I came home. One jobs shopping :D it's great shopping around for things to get bargains without spending a penny I've actually enjoyed that bit.

Interesting documentary on Tonight, the difference between the UK and Helsinki is like what I said about Canada, they just get on with it. If it's -15C children don't go out on breaks, if you didn't send the children to school because it was snowing you would have a social worker visiting.....My friend used to the northern weather moved to Surrey, she's had a bonus holiday given at work for making it in every day without crying off because of snow. What a great gesture? Love the way he interviewed his daughter :) Airport that has never closed....

Sorry I think I asked wrong, I needed 3 stars so far this week as I finished the kitchen last night. I only appear to have one :( soooo

    CAN I PLEASE HAVE 3 STARS:D

I've not managed todays list, I will have a go tomorrow after DP gets out of bed. I have done some fluttering downstairs and a lot of paperwork/bill sorting etc

Hope you are all ok and those with injuries are recovering well x x

PS RANT ALERT - STILL NO BIN COLLECTION ARGH!!!!......Christmas left overs in other peoples bins smells horrid, at least it's not warmer as I am sure it'd all smell worse. Not seen a binman since 17th December.
One day I might be more organised...........

Ok, so I rushed home tonight to have the boiler inspected....and they came early and left before I even got here....so I missed them.

WM unloaded....spent ages fiddling around with the washing machine tyring to locate the actual filter. What i thought was the filter and could never get opened, it isnt actually anything - it doesnt flipping open! Unscrewed the front panel and everything, before deciding to go on the internet and download the manual. Turns out it doesnt have a flipping filter.... but I also discovred that the dispenser drawer has features I didnt know it had, and also found out that Ive been running the cleaning cycle on the wrong setting.....

So I cleaned out the dispenser drawer, put it on the correct 'clean' setting. :D

I brushed the dog and trimmed the ends of his ears, then I hoovered through downstiars and mopped....again. Im sick of the flippin snow now.

I cooked tea and did dishes. Bins were emptied today, so put more rubbish in it, which there hasnt been room for and put out another two bags of recycling. I also put some more cardboard in the other bin.

I mended little one's snuggle-sack and my slipper sock as the reindeer was falling off the side.... :rotfl:

And then Ive come online and told you all about my evening and discovered lots of my jobs were extras....

HOWEVER - CAN I HAVE A KITCHEN STAR PLEASE TOOTS :A

    evening all

Will try and catch up later but had to just pop on and let you know that my clever DH passed his final exam :D So have had a celebratory chinese takeaway for dinner (i was relatively moderate in my portion!) And we may well crack open some champagne later.

Got on ok at work though despite my stick and obvious pain no one gave me a seat on the dlr on the way home or the train on the way there - miserable f*ckers, as my sister said hope they trip up themselves!

DH has washed up, I will do some of the bedroom later but won't change the bed as it was only done on sunday. I'm going to have a bath with my book then put my foot up with some ice on.
