Hi all, can I join you?

An 8 year SW'er I've decided it's not really working for me anymore and I joined WW 8 days ago - last night I weighed in for the first time and lost 8.5lbs!

I get married 3 weeks today so not going to lose what I wanted to but it's a start! I've had an ever such a hungry day and think I've 'just' gone over my points but will cut back slightly for the rest of the week.

    Hints and tips wanted! :D

Wow, SkintCatt, that's an impressive loss!

Just taking time to plan meals is the important bit for me - and I often don't do it! -, to keep food varied and interesting and enjoyable.

So far I'm planning on mushroom omelette with salad for lunch, OH left over cottage pie for dinner tonight.
Tomorrow hopefully simple porridge or sultana bran breakfast, low point veg soup followed by treat rhubarb and rice pudding (can't wait..., haven't had rice pudding for > a year!) and sweet potato topped fish +seafood pie for dinner (which I've made in the past and is good enough for dinner parties!) if I'm really good and don't have anything else I could even have another portion of the rice pudding, I know it will be calling me!

Monday so far planning Chili Crab and pasta salad. Or a vegetarian chili with ciabatta, if i've got to do damage control after rice pudding :o

absfabs - your meals sound fab!

Can I have the receipe & points value for the fish & seafood pie - is sweet potato less points than normal potato?
Would also be interested in your chili crab & pasta ssalad & your veggie chilli.

I'm used to cooking from scratch with SW but I can't work out points to do that with WW so I'm eating a lot of processed food at the mo :(

oh dear, missed my meeting this morning - swapped it for a lie in! Knew it was likely to be a gain after the week I've had and it was +2lbs on my scales. So back into focus for the week ahead, will write some meal plans this morning and make sure I stick to it. More wedding dress shopping at the weekend so there is a big incentive!
Those people looking at the recipes ww online.... our faves are the Chicken Lemongrass Kebabs, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo and Morroccan Chicken.

Spicy Crab Pasta Salad (not tried yet) Edit: made it, didn't like it much, waste of expensive crabmeat.
serves 2, 4.5 points per portion

    Spring Onions, finely sliced
    2 tomatoes, roughly chopped
1 or 2 or more red chillies, depends how hot chillies are and what you like, deseeded and diced
zest and juice of a lime
1 tbsp fresh coriander, roughly chopped
    110 g dried pasta (fusilli)
170g canned crab in brine, drained
    1tbsp light salad cream
    3tbsp 0% fat Greek yoghurt
    1tsp paprika
salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Mix salsa ingredients and leave for flavours to mingle
Boil pasta, drain and rinse with cold water
Mix crab, slaad cream, yoghurt, papriak and seasoning into the pasta.
Serve salsa on the side or mix it all together (Ithink I will mix it all up)

You can also use prawns or crabstick instead of crabmeat, lemon instead of lime, chuck in other 0point salady things...

Vegetarian Chilli (daughter in law's recipe), serves at LEAST 4, chilli without bread and dips 3.5pts per portion (1/4 recipe)

    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 med onion
    1 garlic
    1 pepper
    1 tsp dried chilli flakes
    1 tsp ground coriander
    1 tsp ground cumin
    2 cardamon pods, crushed
    1 can chopped tomatoes
    360ml water
    1 can red kidney beans
    2 tbs tomato paste
    150g lentils
    1 heaped tsp cocoa

Fry onion, garlic, pepper, soften about 10 min,
    add spices, stirring around
    add lentils, stir,
add tomatoes, water, beans, ketchup, tomato paste and cocoa,
    simmer for 45 min.

Serve with guacamole (1.5 per tbsp), sour cream (1pt/tbsp), extra cheese  or 0% Greek yoghurt (0.5 pts for 2 tbsp) :D and warm ciabatta.

Thinking it over, I think this recipe could serve 6 people, in which case it's only 2.5 pts, plus bread and dips.

And the Sweet potato-topped fish pie, serves 4, 6.5pts per serving:

500g sweet potato, peeled and chopped,
150 g weight watchers reduced fat thick cream
    bunch of spring onions, sliced
    175 g prawns
200g cod loin or other white fish, cut into bite-sized pieces,
200g salmon, cut up as above,
    juice of 1/2 lime
165 g canned sweetcorn (or defrosted frozen), drained
    1tbsp freshly chopped dill

Preheat oven to gas mark 6 (200C)
Cook sweet ptoato in boiling water til tender
put the cream, spring onions, prawns and fish in another lidded pan and bring to a simmer, cover pan and simmer for 2-3 min to dook the fish very lightly,
add lime juice, sweetcorn and dill, season with black pepper
put in shallow ovenproof dish, and top wtih the cooked and mashed sweet potato.
    Bake for approx 15 min.

Serve with green veg, like beans, broccoli ... and it's absolutely delish! Guests love it too (not been told it's wwatchers :p)

    Enjoy!

Brilliant - many thanks! Those recipes sound fab - now just got to get my mojo back into cooking!

If anyone's got a low point quorn chilli or curry receipe I'd be very very grateful! :D

Had my first wedding dress fitting today - was terrified as I haven't lost anything (darn you SW!) since I ordered it, but it needs taking in quite a bit and I'm sooo excited now!
