I ordered a camera worth £852.85 on 12 Apr 14 the retailer SimplyElectronics looked genuine, based in UK, with 5 star ratings from a genuine looking rating company and many glowing customer feedbacks on their website. The price was cheapest, fastest delivery 2 to 3 working days, plenty of items in stock. It was all too good to be true for me as it was my dream camera.
Paid in full, I did not receive any receipt no confirmatory email etc no response in their 24 hrs telephone no (overseas line) alarm bell went off. Googled the company and saw thousands of customers from UK being conned. Then my nightmare began not to mention the constant shouting from my wife on a daily basis.lol. I started ringing their telephone hotline on a daily basis lasting my calls 30 – 45 mins and eventually they answered and asked me for my order number which they never supplied in the first place. I had no reference number to complain about as I did not have any evidence of this purchase.
It was on the 10th day after various angry phonecalls they gave me an email address to log my complaint to "support@simplyelectronics.com" which never worked. I had waited now long enough and they still did not give me any reference to my order to work with.
Everything about this retailer looked fake to me as they would say whist on the phone you are now next in the cue with waiting time of less than a minute but after 20 minutes I would still be waiting. They are generating quite a lot of money via their phone calls too with all fraustrated caller waiting on the phone for a long time.
There were clear indications of their fraudulent activities by false representation, failing to disclose information and abuse of position contrary to Fraud Act 2006.
I had bought the camera for my relatives weeding which is now gone and I had to buy an alternative camera for it.
I then filed report to my credit card bank, PayPal, Trading standards and Actionfraud.police.uk
The retailer then decided to send me a tracker number for DPD when I checked with DPD and waited for further 10 days but they only initiated a tacker number but didn't send the actual product.
Now more than 30 days have passed still no sign of my camera luckily I had PayPal to fight my case and just received my refund.
Simply Electronics have been my worst online buying experience by far. God knows where this fraudulent company operates from or who are behind it but we all have to keep reporting to every law enforcement establishments in UK to get them banned in this part of the world.
It looks like they've been doing this for a long time and are still very much active.0 -
There are a new set of rules from 13th June 2014 that all UK online shops need to abide by. http://www.trustedshops.co.uk/lp/consumer-contracts-regulation/thankyou.html
YOU GET NONE OF THIS PROTECTION IF YOU ORDER THRU SIMPLY ELECTRONICS.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
I thought this hasn't been passed into law yet? (It's just a white paper). I'm sure there was a reading in the house yesterday (check the Consumer Rights board) and the outcome was it needs to go for another reading.0

Don't normally do posts on the internet but fealt complled to do so in this case.
I ordered a Samsung Tab 3 10.1 from SE as I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else. Don't know why, but I then decided to read reviews reg. SE, that's after I'd paid! Obviously I was then worried, but then after taking in what I'd read, I decided that I would hang in there and see what happens. Most people had read the negative reviews and decided to cancel, which was when all the problems had started. I was worried myself has I didn't know that the Co were based in Hong Kong. But I did read one review were the guy had reckoned that it could take upto a month for is purchase to arrive, and that in most other cases everyone had eventually got their money back. I prepared myself for the worst, as I had cotacted SE by e-mail and they had assured me that my item would be packed soon and then dispatched. Each step I was informed of via e mail, but it did seem to take longer than I expected. But once it had been dispatched, I must have recieved @ 6 e mails from SE and DPD who were delivering. Eventually it took 16 working days to arrive. It was packaged very well and delivered to my next door neighbour, an e mail was sent confirming this, with a picture of the house it was delivered to! Maybe I've been lucky in this instant or maybe others have acted on negative feedback, never the less I would order from SE again.0 -

I ordered a Samsung Galaxy S4 on 22 April. My confirmation email quoted delivery within 5-10 days. I left it 10 working days before sending an email querying the dispatch information which was stuck at 'your item is being processed'. After a confusing system of actually registering a 'ticket' I got an email apologising for the delay as they had an influx of orders & were currently working through a backlog. At this point I was starting to think I'd never get a refund let alone the phone. I decided to leave it one more week before instigating a battle of getting a refund. The phone turned up 6 days later. The box was authentic & sealed. The headphones were definitely unused......unlike the phone! Under contacts & 'Me' it had Rafael Soutin!
If the phone had been damaged in any way or not working I would have sent the phone back.....probably without a refund though....so I've kept the phone but learnt a valuable lesson.......it's cheaper for a reason!
Needless to say I will stick to reputable companies in future.0 -

I ordered a sigma lens for my Nikon on 12th May 2014 and it came today 27th may 2014 delivered by DPD. I read all the bad press and took a chance as the price was cheaper than uk retailers. I have bought direct from japan before with success buying a Nikon d3200 camera. The lens came in perfect order and I'm extremely happy. The website does look as if they are a uk based company but they are not. I even phoned customer service and got through straight away and they answered my question professionally. I RECOMMEND THEM.0
