  • I ordered 2 phones from this company the other week. They wanted a utility bill so scanned this to them, thought nothing of this, I would like to think I'm not stupid, as I research everything website looks good, and I guessed they was based in the U.K. Reading through all the posts I have now realised how wrong I was. So I decided to phone them this morning and just check the order status again as for the past 6 days it says 'in a queue' and they say 7-10 days dispatch !! If they are in hong kong I'm guessing it won't be here in time ( moving aboard in 1 week). So after being held in a queue and being told 3 minutes wait then the next time it's 5 minutes on hold for 10minutes then they cut me off ( customer service dept ) so try again and again they love the use of 'queue' so thought if I go through to the sales dept, he hangs up on me phone again he put me through to customer services they hang up on me, needless to say this is wearing very thin and my blood pressure has hit the roof !! So with hold my number and go back to sales same bloke. Ask his name made out he didn't understand me finally got a name 'Tony' so he said I explained everything to him ie being on hold and being hung up on. And that I wished to speak with a manager 'not one here' ok the deputy ' not one here' there has to be one ! Line goes dead, the @@@@ hung up on me!! So still trying to sort it out and I now have to tell my dad ( who card I used to pay for them ) I think I have been conned ! So all I can say at the moment is avoid this company , but watch this space! Would I recommend this company NO .

Seems I dodged a problem too. A while back I bought a camera from them after researching them. Took longer to receive than it should and communication was poor but it arrived and was exactly as I would have wanted. Seems they've gone downhill, or don't pay for enough staff or even training.
  • I read the reviews but I couldn't believe a company could remain in business for years running a scam. So despite the reviews and enticed by exceptionally cheap prices I ordered a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM from Simply Electronics for £480.95 on 27th Sept 2013 when the cheapest UK price was over £600. I received a quick email confirmation giving me my order number & advising how to check the order progress on my account page at Simplyelectronics.net. More importantly at the bottom of the email was the following message "Please note that Simply Electronics provides an independent quality assessment and resolutions resource, provided by KwikChex.com. If you are not satisfied with your goods, or if they are delayed by more than 4 working days beyond the stated time (7-10 working days), please notify KwikChex."
I contacted Kwikchex on 26th Oct to advise that the order had yet to be dispatched. I received a quick response to advise they had received my email. On 27th Oct a 2nd email from KwikChex advised they were acting on my behalf to resolve the matter & this usually completed within 7 working days.
On 1st Nov Simply Electronics sent me an email to advise that my order had been dispatched. On the same day KwikChex confirmed this and sent me the tracking details. It arrived today, 4th Nov.
I'm guessing that the involvement of KwikChex is a recent phenomenon since no one else has mentioned them but their actions resolved the delay issue that I was experiencing.
Like some posters here I too doubt the veracity of some of the messages. Some sound like they are being posted by UK photography outlets trying to undermine a rival.
To verify my message I would be happy to provide admin with my order details.
  • 1. Ordered iPad retina display £439
    2. 2 weeks passed no dispatch
    3. After waiting 4 weeks I cancelled my item as still no dispatch
    4. That's 2 months I have been waiting for a refund now and still nothing
    5. I have constantly emailed and phoned and been given false promises, no explanation for the reason for delay, and on each occasion a generic reply saying I will get it soon. Don't listen to their words of things being "priority" or "handed to management and escalations team" these are empty statements
    6. All trust destroyed, awful company policy, was advised to "get in touch with my bank" about pursuing a refund when I last phoned simply electronics.

Really have made the last few months miserable for me. By far the worst online shopping experience I have ever had, please don't fall into the same trap!! I feel so strong about this disservice that this is the only reason I signed up to the forum.

Thanks, we had just received a phone call from a friend of ours who had ordered an iPad from SE on the 1st of August for her daughter's birthday. There were endless delays e.g. not in stock (an iPad?????) etc. The birthday came and went so she asked for her money back; the results were same old put offs for weeks and no refund. I have just sent her the URL for the KWIKCHEX form and your post.
  • Can I just suggest that us victims of this company do something other than write about them on forums to warn others. Anyone reading any of these comments will choose elsewhere. I neglected to research and I'm paying the price.
Something that might help others not fall into this trap would be putting negative comments on their youtube videos and making sure to click thumbs down on them.
I have contacted Google because simplyelectronics use adwords and their subtitle is 'all goods dispatched from the UK' so they are lying and clearly fraudsters and Google should not be bringing up their URL in search results or promoting them with adwords. This is what will help people because they won't find them.
Also, we can contact HK police but we should coordinate it so that we all do it at the same time for impact. I'm done being angry with them and now want to stamp them down out of sight, punished or not.

Just make sure you click thru the Google adwords, or Google Shopping results every time you see a Simply Electronics advert......will probably cost them a pound or so every time people do it.
    illegitimi non carborundum
  • I know what you're saying. It'll hit them but it'll increase their overheads and probably lessen my chances of a refund!

    No, a coordinated attack:
    • Spoil their yt videos with thumbs down and truthful comments about their frauds.
    • Contact Google about their behaviour.
    • Contact the HK police (I can't paste link as a new user).
If a bunch of people agree to act at the same time, it will have more effect. I don't mind facilitating and organising this, I want to see them suffer and prevent others from falling into this trap.
  • I wanted to compare s4 prices compared to Amazon £374 I saw it on simplyelectronics.net for £359.95.

Luckily I googled for simplyelectronic deal on Qudico to see if I could save more via Cashback.....

and one hit was for this link. I have read just few of the complaints was enough for me....

I thought I was going to save some £15 but going with the hassle you guys had I rather pay £15 extra than pay them and end up asking for a never promised refund....

    THANK YOU GUYS!!!!
  • Oh the refund is promised. I've been told twice that it's been initiated. There really is no point talking to them. You have to remember, it's not a highly inefficient website, it's a successful criminal gang. They know that chargebacks happen and have to accept it. But they try hard not to reach that point by getting you to hang on for a promised refund.

The aim is to get people to hang on until such a point that you can't do a chargeback any more.
