Simply Electronics - WARNING
Comments

I am surprised that no one seems to give additional information what to do against Simply Electronics, based in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong has a consumer council that advises and help consumers that experiencing problems with this unfortunate company.
If you have serious problems with delivery, refunds etc. contact the Hong Kong consumer authority by sending all copies of your correspondence with Simply Electronics like ticketnbrs, confirmations, payment statements etc. with an accompanying letter explaining what your problems with Simply Electronics are.0 -
There are loads of these dodgy firms out there and the worst thing is many of them have eBay and Amazon shops and neither Amazon or eBay are reluctant to do anything about them.
They are all from China, strangely enough all have the same address, and all sell dodgy items, half of which don't work with no comeback.
You'd think that seeing companies like Amazon and eBay are allowing them to sell through their websites they could be held liable as they're not doing proper checks.
I bought an item last year from a similar company called "BuyInCoins", the eBay listing claimed the item was from the UK. It was supposed to be a "3D convertor box".
It arrived eventually, from China - not from the UK as advertised and it didn't work.
Got in touch with them and said I wasn't happy and wanted a refund. Was offered a refund if I agreed to return the item at my own expense to China and it must be sent recorded and signed for, for a refund, or offered a partial refund of £1 (for a £39 item!).
I went mad with them, pointed out to them that it was false advertising and the listing clearly stated the item was coming from the UK, not from China and therefore I would expect to return the item to the UK not to China as returning it to China would be too much (especially as per eBay rules I'd need to send it tracked - proof of posting would not suffice).
Got another response this time with a "sob story" about the fact that I'm bankrupting them and they need the item back and can't afford to pay return postage on a defective item to China - yeah right - try telling that to someone who gives a damn, I'm already annoyed that it didn't come from the UK when it was supposed to..
They then offered £5 and I keep the item.
Eventually after much bartering I managed to get them to give me back £30 - ok I lost £9 and ended up with a piece of junk electronics that didn't work.
The annoying thing was I did buy two other items off them as well - I bought some RJ connectors and boots for ethernet cable as I do my own PC business and thought their prices on that were pretty reasonable, and was considering buying more bits and pieces for my computer repair business from them. The connectors and boots were fine and I explained to them that they're willing to lose someone who might consider buying a lot more stock over a £39 box and they didn't quite see it like that, so since then haven't bought anything from them.
Some other names they are known as
Simplyelectronics
BuyInCoins (eBay, Amazon and Website)
Hielec(Ship from China) (eBay, Amazon and Website)
The annoying thing with Amazon and eBay is that they go hell for leather trying to stop people selling items in the UK that they claim is illegal
R4 cards - can't sell them if your a UK seller 'cos they're illegal - but Chinese sellers can
Windows licence keys - again can't sell them if your a UK seller, but Chinese sellers can
Name brand clothing - can't sell it, could be counterfeit but Chinese sellers can
eBay are the worst for it and it possibly even amounts to eBay being racist against UK sellers by adopting one policy for one country and another policy for another.0 -
Been had by simplyelectronics, bunch of w.a.n.k.e.r.s, also watch for hand tech as they are related to the other jokers.
Now the long process of trying to get my money back.
Why is life so unfair :-(0 -
I to fell for the cheap prices but did not receive what I ordered . If you contact skrill on +44 203 514 5562. Within 24hrs of doing so I received an email informing me my money will be returned to my bank account within 7 days.
I will post again to confirm when I have been refunded. (Or if I do not get refunded). You could also contact your bank if you paid by credit or debit card as they will also be able to recover your money if you have not received delivery within 15 days. This takes time though so I would try Skrill first.0 -
I ordered a Cannon camera lens (£226) on 27th Nov and the order was "in a queue" for a week or so. I then did the same thing as all of you and properly researched the company and was obviously upset as I stupidly used my debit card (should have used PayPal) and it was meant to be a Christmas present which I was sure I would not get in time...if at all. I read on another angry customer blog and it mentioned a company actually registered in the UK called KwikChex (kwikchex dot com). They are 'online reputation managers'. I thought it couldn't sure to contact them so I told them about my problem and that I wanted their help and this was the response:
Dear Nora,
Thanks for contacting KwikChex.
Our role is to verify the standards of businesses and to assist consumers by providing additional assistance when required. The purpose of both our Proof of Quality resources and the reason we post on selected forums is to inform consumers that these resources are in place and to enable them to contact us - as you have done.
We have monitored Simply Electronics since they applied for accreditation. Comparative to the number of orders Simply Electronics fulfils every day we have had few complaints, but all those that are received have our immediate attention and our prioritised. They have, however had some service issues and we are helping them with these. They have also completely complied with our terms and conditions, which include a fast response and resolution to any cases we report to them and adherence to UK consumer laws.
As a customer of Simply Electronics, then the most important thing is to help you resolve the issues you have faced. We will immediately take up your case. On average we are able to reach a resolution within 7 working days. As you have provided your order number etc we currently have everything we need and will be in touch when we have further news.
Best Regards,
Loren Hawkyard, KwikChex Team
I had pretty much constant updates from Kwikchex (NOT Simply Electronics) so I was still skeptical my item would arrive but it was finally delivered! On SimplyElectronics it was advertised as 4-10 day delivery which was actually more like 21 days but it did come and I did save about £75 (had I bought it on Amazon or from Cannon directly)
Moral of the story is it is OK to order from Simply Electronics BUT if the item is not delivered in the 4-10 day period contact KwikChex and they will sort it out for you. After the first email to Kwikchex my item came 10 days later.0 -
I have had all the above problems after ordering an i pad for a xmas present on 24/11 and after reading Watchman077 contacted Kwickchex yesterday.I got the same reply as the last post. This morning i received this e mail from Kwickchex.
Dear Denis,
We have been advised by Simply Electronics that they have issued your refund today.
For your reference customers usually see this in their account in 3 - 5 working days.
If you could please let us know when you receive your refund - as your case will remain open until this point.
Best Regards,
Loren Hawkyard, The KwikChex Team.
I also checked the order status on SE website and it had cancelled.
Funny how they couldn't do it when i asked.
I will let you know if i get my refund but maybe this is the way to go with this company

Thanks for letting us know about your problem. Does this company charge for there service ?0
-
As far as i am aware there is no charge but i am not sure. There was no mention of this on the website0
-
I agree!
If you want an item delivered for or before christmas, do not go with this website.
The website says that they send your item within 2-3 and it'll arrive in 4-10 days. I purchased a phone in early December, reading that I am guaranteed to receive my item before 25/12
I checked my item everyday to see where it was and it said it was being processed and checked etc but then I saw it said I had no purchase history.
I emailed the site and received an abrupt reply which made no link to the question I was asking.
I now have no idea when I will get my order, but I know that it'll not be here by Christmas - probably not even by new year.
If you aren't concerned about how long your order takes, but you want items cheaper than most places, then buy with them. But you're risking getting it for a certain date!
Don't expect quick replies if you ask any questions as well.0 -
ah well I am waiting since 4th December for a GoPro with their extended warranty and memory card, so have followed your advice to contact my credit card company and will contact Skrill next
