Just thought I'd add my 2p's-worth on this firm. I ordered an iPad on 29th November - taken by the price, which, at the time, was about £70 lower than anywhere else. I emailed them when the stated delivery period was up - 10 days from order, and got an email saying it had been upgraded to "expedited despatch". I checked the website and, for several days, the order was marked as "Packed - depatch within 1/2 days". Time passed... So, feeling a bit panicky - the iPad was a present and I thought I might not get it for Christmas - on 19th December I filled in a "I want to cancel my order" web form on their site, sent it off, and contacted my credit card company for a refund, which was dealt with immediately. Lo and behold, on 20th December - the iPad arrived, together with an apologetic email and an offer of a free cover for the iPad.
So - a mixed experience. On reflection, I'm hard put to decide whether it's a "hang on to their money as long as possible" scammy firm - or whether they're just pretty inefficient! Anyway, it came in time - just - and I now have to rescind the dispute with the credit card company.
But, somehow, I don't think I'll use them again...
PS: Just checked my account with SimplyElectronics and its still says, "Packed, awaiting despatch within 1/2 days." Tee hee.0 -
Same for me, waited so long for the order status to change on there web site, seen this site and panicked. Cancelled my order and bought another phone elsewhere. Then yesterday the phone from simplyelectronics arrived and the other one I ordered, so I now have two.
I would never buy from them again, as there is no communication from them, had the kept me up to date with my order, things would be different.
Any one want to buy a brand new sony xperia z1 lol0 -
To be fair to Simply Electronics, I ordered an iPad mini from them on 4th December, and although it arrived slightly outwith the stated timeframe, it did arrive (on Saturday 21st). I am delighted with the item, particularly when I discovered on registering the product, that it was actually the Retina Display iPad Mini (I had thought at the price, it would be the 1st Generation Mini...).
I'll be honest, and say their Administration could improve somewhat (I received an email advising that my item had just been dispatched, 'after' I had actually received the item!!). However, I did receive the item, and that is the main thing...0 -
I have just received my refund of £289 from SE.
As I said in an earlier thread I contacted Kwickchex filled in a simple online form with date, price and order number and that I had asked for a refund but was getting nowhere and they did the rest. This has taken less than a week. Not bad as I ordered the I pad on 24/11 and was getting the runaround since then.
Another lesson learnt as my son has since changed his mind and wants an Xbox1.Dont you just love teenagers.Reserved that online at our local Tesco and picked it up the following day.Wish I had done that in the first place.
Hope you are all as lucky..0 -
Foolishly, I ordered an iphone for Christmas on Nov 14th from this company, factoring in a long delivery time. It has been the most stressful shopping experience ever. There was no communication at all unless I rang them. After getting to the point where the phone was obviously not going to be delivered for Christmas, despite a number of assurances, I rang to cancel the order and that's when things became even more stressful. Only after a call to my credit company and several blunt emails/calls did I get my refund. This was two weeks after requesting it whereas they took my money immediately. It's just not worth the hassle of dealing with this company to get their low prices. I only spent a little more to deal with a reputable company who delivered within a week and communicated throughout.0

Now I've just seen on their website that their communications are closed until 2nd January. Looks like I won't be getting my item until 2014.0

Vicki - a quick one... They are replying! I've had 2 responses today.
My story
I ordered a camera yesterday and payment was taken instantly on my MasterCard. I then read horrific things about them and realised it wouldn't be a uk camera so tried to cancel... And so the fun begins!
I emailed them last night and received a reply this morning advising payment is 'being processed' and if I still wish to cancel email them tomorrow. I hit the roof!
My reply email was stern advising they had my money as confirmed by email and on my account status. I would not change my mind in 24hrs and wanted it cancelling straight away. If it wasn't if take legal action.
I've had two replied a apologising and advising refund will be processed ASAP.
Literally just contacted 'Skrill' advising situation as I figure they will be similar to paypal in the sense they give some protection. Another email has gone to company to advise it doesn't take days to hit the refund button.
I'll update how I get on!
In meantime I'm back to looking for a canon 60d body lol x0
