  • I may be wrong but I believe its illegal to ask you about childcare arrangements in an interview, a form of discrimination :(
God knows. I could probably find out but they just asked what I would do in the holidays etc and what my arrangements were. They didn't reject me because of that in the end so probably not much point worrying about it now to be fair. Que sera, sera.

Just checked for you; they're not supposed to ask about childcare but its not illegal. It is illegal however if they took your response into account and based their decision with that info in mind, however, proving that is another matter :( If you're happy that the other applicant had better experience then fair enough, but it does seem unfair :o

  • No point dwelling on it really. Just one of those things, I don't have as much experience as most to back up the knowledge. Ah well. C'est la vie.

  • Ah morning. KK woke up in a foul mood this morning so was glad to ditch her off to nursery lol! Ash however was in a great mood thanks to the Tooth Fairy visit :) She's gone to my dad's again today as she has been all week due to half term. Can't believe the week's nearly over already
Shi*thead seems to be getting better. The vets said he had a bad ear infection and a mild fever so he was given antibiotic eardrops and pills. He's definitely perked up a lot and doesn't seem to be in pain no as he was which is a relief. Was so worried about him.

Oh and while I'm on the subject, I can't recommend the PDSA enough. Because I get housing benefit I get free vet treatment for him. They do ask for donations and you have to pay for things like neutering etc, but otherwise it's free. They're fab and the work they do is amazing.

www.pdsa.org.uk is well worth a visit for anyone on housing benefit or council tax benefit with pets :) Plus it means I can save the £5 a month on pet insurance :)

Right, suppose I better get ready for work, ready for the barrage of questions about 'how it went'.... *sigh*

  • Have been having a think about the debt/employment dilemma. I want to get my debt paid off in full by the time my contract ends. It end on the 30th april so that gives me 10 weeks. The debt is currently at £743.78 so £74.38ish a week.. doesn't sound TOO bad.. if I pay £74.38 this week and next that leaves £595.02 over march and april... just under £300 a month. hmmmmm. Obviously plus interest too. Also I *Think* that my minimum payment comes out regardless of any additional payments, so theoretically, having looked at my budget which shows £350 disp income for march even after my car tax, I should be able to manage it. I'll have to get Ash a birthday present but with the £50 spare it looks like I'd be able to manage that.

so... plan for this month.. pay off minimum £148.76 That'll take my balance down to £595.02 ready for March and April :)

Whichever way my job goes... whether I manage to get a job, or whether I end up back on benefits, I need to get my debt repaid before it happens. So keep your fingers crossed for me people that I can stick to being frugal and be without drama until it's cleared!

I think that is really positive that they would offer you something if they had 1 more job. The person that got the job is likely to be someone they know and really like. Remember it is good to make new contacts you never know what they might lead to. Well done and good luck in your hunt.

I've got my strict budgets as always...
    £200 food
    £150 petrol
    £200 'everything else'

I could cut down the everything else budget but it literally covers everything including clothes, haircuts, treats, a social life... I might drop it down to £150 and just stop spending on non essentials for the time being.

Cutting down to £150 would give you some "breathing space", so if you can manage it, I could give it a try. If you have it left at the end, then it will set you up nicely for your new job.
