Hello again, September 2011 brides and grooms.

Plans have all stalled because it is all so far away - in time AND distance! Can't choose a reception venue until we know numbers; won't know numbers till we get replies to the invites that haven't even been chosen yet, let alone printed and posted! Etc etc. :(

I keep looking for BM dresses, as that seems to be the only thing I can actually do at the moment. But as I can't even decide on a colour I want....well, it's just not coming together!

Just wanted to have a little moan and groan. Want to get on with things!!!

How's everyone elses plans going? Are any of you getting married abroad? If so, what's the groom wearing? Me and OH2B can't agree on his outfit either!:undecided

I'm getting married abroad too :) St Pete's Beach in Florida, 28th Sept - OH (and all other male guests) wearing cream linen trousers, white shirt and white converse....he is wearing a slim fit suit for our reception at home though!

What do you/your OH want him to wear on the day? Also where are you getting married (just being nosy now!)?.

Hi Peachy. We're getting married at St Pauls Bay, Lindos on Rhodes Island. Very pretty spot, but also very popular! But we met there so it's significant to us!!

OH wants to wear trousers, shirt and shoes - which are all fine but he wants to wear his shirt out and be a bit casual. But I want him to be a bit smarter. Don't want to overdress him as it'll be hot, but just smart. Does that make sense? We were at a wedding there a few years ago and the groom wore his shirt out and he was so hot and sweaty that he looked as though he had come from an all-night drinking session! Not a good look!
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.
  • well things just went tits up big time, got a letter from my venue basically saying we've gone bust so you'll have to find somewhere else

Oh no Deano!! Had you paid much money for it? I'm sure there will be a legal whizz somewhere on here that can help you try to get money back.

No consolation but at least you have time to find another venue! I notice you are in Peterborough - is that where you are getting married?

Hi there, can I join you.
Im a September 2011 Bride also (just about....we have booked to get married on Friday 30th September 2011).
Been with OH for 11 years! Have a 2 year old son....have not been able to afford it so far so we have decided to !!!!!! off to Paphos, Cyprus next year. Planned for it just to be us three but people have said they would like to come. Ive said not a problem but I dont intend to organise their hotel etc. Will organise a nice reception in a taverna over there if anyone decides to join us. Have booked a wedding planner to sort that all out for me though, so hopefully a stress-free wedding!
Will do a party back here thats not a "wedding" as such, just a party to keep costs down. Eeeeek x

hey joho, thankfully we had only paid the deposit which they've sent back us via cheque.

you're right i'm in Peterborough but we are pretty limited and places to have a full day and they're a little dingy tbh so we're looking at places in cambridge, oundle, stamford and huntingdon - all within an hour's travel

Is anyone getting excited that all our weddings are oh so just over a year away - or is it just me, ha :D

Deano sorry to hear you are having venue problems, bet you were glad to get the deposit back. Our venue is 45 mins travel from where we live/getting married, I think an hour is reasonable as well, you'll probably find family/friends will be willing to travel anywhere. Are you planning on having a big do?

Got a couple of bargains from ebay over the weekend. Got myself some rainbow club ivory shoes for £20, they have been worn but excellent condition, and a tiara which I'd spotted in Berketex Brides the other weekend that's £95 full price and I got it for £10.

Never in a month of Sunday's did I think I would be able to have such nice things for my wedding on our budget, but I'm so chuffed. :T
    I :heart2: saving money

Hi, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where us september 2011 brides could plan together.

My story is... I got engaged to my lovely DF in November and we are just starting to plan. I am from Northern Ireland (getting married there) and now live in Surrey so we are going over in Feb to look at venues and hopefully get something booked. We are hoping to have a civil ceremony with reception in the same venue, hopefully in a nice country hotel/stately home. I have nothing booked as yet but thought we could all discuss our progress together!
