Hi again girls and boys. Slight change of plans - couldn't get 19th September and am slightly disappointed as it would have been 10 years to the day that we met. So we are now going for Monday 12th September instead!! Quite a late afternoon ceremony too - 5.45PM (it's in Lindos, Rhodes) so dinner is going to be quite late! Just hope no-one is drunk at the ceremony having spent all day waiting! If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0

Hi & welcome & congrats minimog! I googled your castle, it looks fabulous!
Joho, our ceremony is booked for 4pm, and this is one my concerns too, that groom & best man will get drunk together before the wedding as they are staying over the night before, not too worried about the rest of the guests as they will all be driving from Cleveland up to Gretna on the day (hence the later wedding). It's such a worry!:heartpuls dawnebabe :heartpuls0 -
Hey dawnebabe - you're getting married on my birthday!
It's the groom I'm worried about getting drunk more than anyone else - he can't pace himself with drink, will be bored waiting and nervous about making his speech!
And, minimog - congratulations! I googled the castle too and it looks gorgeous! If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Hi Kate, welcome & congrats!
We too can't book our registrar yet, but our venue assured us that it wouldn't be a problem... still a tiny worry though so I know what you mean! I'm sure it will all be ok though x
I keep getting wobbles that they won't have our date. Going to try and 'provisionally' book it next week due to mass paranoia. :rotfl:0 -

Sorry to hear you didn't get the date you wanted, that would have been perfect.
Speaking of people being drunk at the ceremony, I was going to get married at our reception venue and stay the night before. Once all the rellies got wind of this they were all tallking about staying and going out drinking the night before. I was having a total freak out as I know what they can be like and was so worried that people would be too hungover for the wedding or still drunk. Changed the venue now to closer at home and just hoping that people don't go out partying the night beforeI :heart2: saving money0 -

We are exactly the same, can't book our date with the registar until 12 months before. Already got our ceremony time booked at the place we are getting wed at, so I'll on that phone at 8.59am on the dot on the day.I :heart2: saving money0 -
Hi all,
Can I join you? We have finally set the date for 9th September 2011 in Dublin.
very excited!0 -
Hi all, I shall apologise in advance as I have yet to read through everything here as time is a little short this morning/afternoon.
Firstly: Congratulations to everyone!!
My Story: My partner and I have been together for almost 9 years and have a 3.5 yr old daughter. Being female, I have obviously wanted to get married for a while, but he was a bit slow on the commitment of it. lol. We finally decided on it this week and "officially" last night. Ideally, I would like to be married on the day we first got together just 10 years later, as it would be romantic and also means only remembering one day
That means it would be 26th September 2011.
I was thinking of perhaps having a small ceremony in a registry office (or hotel or something, but preferably not expensive) with a few close friends/family on the day as it is a Monday and then a nice reception the weekend following it to involve everyone. However, I am now stuck as to all of the planning and doing everything. I am not entirely sure where to start - other than looking at lovely things I cannot afford! Haha.
So yes, that is the plan and I thought I would pop in here for some inspiration. I will be checking back when I have more time this week.
Oh and we are on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

I rang up our registrar and she let me provisionally book our date, i keep getting paranoid someone else may get it anyway though lol!
Have now booked photographer, band, cars and dress bought from a sample sale (still current season mori lee for £495, very chuffed with that!)0 -
Hi & welcome Hollie & partypiglet! & Congratulations of course!! Hope you enjoy beginning your planning!
Toothfairy you're so organised! I've really got to get in touch with the hotel who are booking our registrar & ask them if they can provisionally book one for us to stop me worrying!! Even though I keep telling myself we are going to Gretna, surely they must have hundreds of registrar's up there!!??!!
My plans are coming along nicely, have ordered my shoes & cake topper in the last week, entertainment next on the list, it was before the shoes & topper, but I got side tracked... it doesn't take much!
I've come up with a genius idea also to stop OH & best man getting drunk on the day of the wedding, I'm going to book them a round of golf for the wedding morning, that way they'll be more interested in golf than drinking.... or at least that's the plan!! I wanted to do it as a surprise, but couldn't figure out a way of getting 2 golf bags there without them knowing!! I've mentioned it to OH and suggested it would be a nice relaxing way to spend the morning, he thinks this is a brilliant idea... little does he know the real reason.... mwah, ha, ha, ha!!!!:heartpuls dawnebabe :heartpuls0
