Hello everyone, can I join the gang? I'm getting married on 3rd September. Got a venue provisionally booked, will be confirmed in the next week or so, just having a headache of where to actually get married at the moment.

Our venue is going to be the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal. We can have our ceremony at the hotel but it's going to cost us around £900  and the room the ceremony takes place in is so minging, so looking into at getting married where we live and then having the wedding breakfast/do at the hotel.

I've been a long time lurker, so looking forward to getting ideas and having a good chat :)

First, CONGRATULATIONS! :j Second, do they have a different room they can marry you in?

  • Hi All,

So far things have not gone according to plan. The venue I thought I wanted were practically robbing us. Who can afford to book out 15 rooms at 124 quid for a single. Not me. So we have a new venue and a new date. They are all booked out next year. No Saturdays available from the middle of May until the middle of Sept. So we are now officially on the 17th Sept 2011. Deposit has been sent off and a registrar procured. I've even been on the trawl for some wedding favours. I am feeling very productive. Yeah me!!!
Hope all is going well with the rest of you
    xx

They do have a different room but that one is just as bad. We've now decided to have the wedding ceremony somewhere else but we've still booked the Castle Green for our wedding breakfast/evening do.

Buddiebabe, you've done more than me :D

We've booked the place where we are getting married and paid deposit and booked our after wedding venue and paid deposit. We can't book the registrar until 12 months before the wedding so have that date ready in my calender to make the call though I don't think I'll forget somehow!

Next on the list is wedding dress shopping in June, got exams in May so sort of put the wedding planning on the back burner for a while.

Oh I found out that a local wedding dress shop are having a Maggie Sottero designer day where they are pre-seeing the new collection due out this September, I rang up for an appointment and they are fully booked, so a tad miffed about that even though I'm not officially dress shopping yet :(

We had a venue that was worse then that, they wanted us to take exclusivity of the place with 15 rooms priced between £200-£350 per room per night

glad you managed to find somewhere :) it's a good feeling isn't it when the venue is booked.

We've booked a venue. We ditched the Warrington town hall idea - they couldn't guarantee whether they could do the ceremony on a friday until closer to the time - I wasn't willing to wait. We booked a local best western hotel instead. for the ceremony, wedding breakfast, drinks, evening reception Dj food we are paying £3800 (40 day, 100 night). We are having the ude of three separate roms and the garden area too. They also chuck in colour coded balloons, table linen and napkins, glass inserts, candleabras alsorts really has been taken care of!
My mums paying for the seat covers at £100 and for the cake too.

I've picked my preferred wedding dress too http://millybridal.com/store/comersus_viewItem1.asp?idProduct=365&idCategory=50 it's the back I particulary love, you'll have to click enlarge picture and look through. The picture link didn;t work

Good stuff, we are having our wedding breakfast and evening do at at Best Western hotel, I was impressed by the wedding package deal as well. We were also going to get married there as well but they wanted an extorinate amount for hire of the gazebo and the rooms they use inside for ceremonies are in much need of decoration. Saying that the function room that we are having is amazing, it feels detached from the rest of the hotel, got it's own bar and rooftop terrace with tables and chairs outside which is completly private for us.
