Dawnebabe, that is so weird.

I'm hoping to get married down near Dumfries. My parents now live in Lockerbie so we're hoping to look at a few places over the next couple of weeks.

I've checked a few things out on line but some of the fancier places don't really want you to have your reception there unless you hire all the rooms or book exclusively. An interesting way of getting you to part with your brass.

To seal the spooky deal my guy is a huge reds fan too. I'm thinking of slipping that in on the big day as a surprise. Not sure how to bring it all together but I'll keep you posted.

I hope she will pleased & look down on us in some way! My OH tells me that this year there is the World Cup finals & 2012 has the European Championship, so both not good years for football crazy grooms!! I remember the last wedding we went to, one of his best friends, there was a Middlesbrough game being shown in a different room at the reception venue, this is our local team & all of the males went & watched it in the middle of the reception. If that had been my wedding I would have been furious! :rotfl:

I'm having a few red surprises for my OH!! I'm going to order a personalised cake topper, the type you get made to look just like you really do. I'm going to get 'him' in a Liverpool strip with his foot on a ball & me in my wedding dress!
I'm also going to name our tables after some Liverpool legends, i.e Keegan, Dalglish etc.
The men's favours are going to be those little football chocolates in red bags, with lottery tickets!
Not sure of any other football things yet, if I think of any I'll post them!

Myself on my OH get engaged a week ago after being together for 6 1/2 years. We originally told people we wanted a long engagement - but alot can happen in a week.

We've now provisionally set a date aside of 23rd Sept 2011 (or 16th Sept as a back up date). It's a Friday so no risk of there being a Man utd (him) or Man City (me) match being on.

We have no idea where to start other than although I live in Blackpool, I want to go to my birthtown Warrington (Cheshire ) to get married. My friend got married at warrington town hall http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrington_Town_Hall it looks fantastic on the pictures

OH thankfully agreed, his family up here is small whereas mine are all based in Warrington and comprises of a complicated array of step parents so location wise it makes more sense!

Congrats Martine! Lol at being 'on' him! That venue looks gorgeous! I wonder how many other people plan weddings around football matches!!!

I have bought a dress today!!! I've kind of stunned myself as I thought it would take me weeks & many trips to lots of bridal stores, instead, I had it bought in under 2 hours! And it was verrrrry MSE!!! So my OH is stunned too!!!

So far we have the venue and registrar booked. I feel like I should be doing other things but haven't really looked into much else yet - every time I think about how much everything is going to cost I feel sick!!

I'm restraining myself from doing everything right now... as we are still saving hard to pay for it all... I'm trying to sort 1 major thing a month, well.... except this month, I've booked a photographer & bought the dress!.... this way it's all coming along nicely!

I've spent lots of time looking at things but not much time actually achieving anything! Although I have got an appointment next Saturday to look at a possible reception venue!

Hello everyone, can I join the gang? I'm getting married on 3rd September. Got a venue provisionally booked, will be confirmed in the next week or so, just having a headache of where to actually get married at the moment.

Our venue is going to be the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal. We can have our ceremony at the hotel but it's going to cost us around £900 :eek: and the room the ceremony takes place in is so minging, so looking into at getting married where we live and then having the wedding breakfast/do at the hotel.

I've been a long time lurker, so looking forward to getting ideas and having a good chat

Hellooo Queen_B, welcome! Love your venue, makes me want somewhere grand now rather than modern that we have have chosen! £900 though.... yikes!!
