    i'm started to panic a little as we are planning on getting married 7th September 2011 but havent booked a singlr thing yet plus we havent got much more than £3500 for whole thing any ideas to keep costs down the venue is main thing.
    been looking at marquee hire for approx 60 guests and all around £1000 thats without table decorations etc.
    but venue is the biggest thing for us and the rings.
    any help much appreciated

    marquees can be pricey, have you tried looking at a local hotel to see if they can work for you??
  • Hello & congratulations to everyone!

    We booked our wedding yesterday for Sept 10th 2011! We live in Sussex but are getting married at Bournemouth Town Hall and have then hired a 12 bedroom house for the whole weekend and are having a BBQ as our reception! This means we can have all of our family staying for the weekend and it also has a private beach hut so we can all head down there the day after the wedding.

    I also already got my dress off of eBay! Its brand new with the tags still on, retail price £995 and I won it for £99! I love it but its going to take that long to fit into it!

    My OH is a jeweller so he's designing and making my wedding ring but it'll be a suprise until the day!

    I'm so excited now I can hardly wait!:T

    OMG! Some of you are so organised already!!

    We've just decided on our date (if its possible) - Monday 19th September. I'm sure that sounds odd to some of you (Monday?), but we are getting married in Lindos, Rhodes and that date will be 10 years to the day that we met out there!

    - We're going to Lindos this year to check out venues - but this depends on numbers - have 100+ on list but I know lots of them won't go abroad, can't afford to or whatever;
    - We have in mind an organiser who did a friends wedding there, but haven't got in touch yet;
    - I fell in love with a dress 3 weeks ago after going in a shop on the spur of the moment - but haven't been able to get back to try it again. It was in the sale so I hope its still there :(
    - I've asked 3 friends to be BMs.
    - We've told most people the wedding would be abroad and in September but not the exact date as only decided an hour ago!

    And thats the extent of our organisation! Lots to do!
    Congratulations to everyone else and look forward to swapping tips/stories/moans etc with you all!

    Have you checked last minute weddings online? They offer beautiful venues with package prices for 60 guests. Castles and everything!

    We're getting married this August and that's all I would say is allow yourself plenty of time in making bookings and haggle, haggle! We've saved a fortune by doing this. Our reception venue is supposed to be minuimum spends of £5500 for August but as we've gone for a Friday we've managed to agree on £3500 minimum spends. The table decorations I've bought 2nd hand from ebay job lot, with already someone interested in buying them off me! I saved £100's on those alone!

    The wedding car quotes were coming in at nearly £500 - for one car! i managed to get one company down to £270. I always wanted a string quartet playing which are very expensive but an alternative we're having is a duet of Celo and Violin which is costing us £220 instead of £800/£900!

    Just don't get carried away with the silly costs of everything. Haggle haggle! At the end of the day there is a ceiling to how much our budgets are and every penny counts!

    Good luck all!
