  • Hi, just booked my ceremony for 16th, now just got to sort everything else out!!:)
  • well time for a little update, new venue is now sorted and is a corker! the w2b has got some ideas on how to dress the venue and we are starting to plan the guest list.

    w2b has also got her dress sorted, so next on the cards are invite designs and the cake me thinks, suits will be sorted in the new year

    hows everyone else getting on with their planning??

    Hi all. Been on hol, meeting wedding organiser etc and so haven't been around for a while.

    Welcome and congratulations to the new members of Sep 2011.

    Deano, glad you found a new venue. I live near Cambridge so would have made a few suggestions if I'd had time before going on hol.

    Janeya - congratulations! Lots and lots of exciting stuff to do now! Enjoy.

    We've now sorted the music for the ceremony, the walk through the town and for during dinner. We've chosen where we are having pre-dinner drinks and post-dinner party, and where we are having dinner. Also chosen the cake.

    Now just got to decide on video and photo packages, what we are having for dinner, the flowers and colours, BM dresses, grooms and best mans outfits....but most importantly must get invites sorted and posted VERY soon so people can book their holidays!

    Everything's going so quickly now! Time will just fly by!!

  • Oh dear this morning we had problems with booking a registrar.

    I rang this morning at 9am as they'd asked me to months ago, but the phone was engaged so I tried through main switchboard and was told by a pleasant lady that they only started at 9:30 by which time I had to start work she said they could call back once they started but as I work in a hospital with barely any mobile reception and in procedures all morning it wasn't practical today.

    Rang back at lunch to be told the slot I wanted had gone :eek: gutted :( and only the two slots an hour and a half either side were available. This has been my worst fear since we booked the venue in April!

    I mentioned I was gutted as much had already been planned and I'd need to chat with H2B about what to do and I explained what had happened when I tried to get through switchboard.

    She said the information given was wrong and that it was only appointments that started at 9:30, they did accept phone calls from 9am. They said they'd call back in half hour see what could be done.

    They called back and they have made available another registrar team for us! :j:j:T Thanks registrars of warrington!

    Phew!!!!

    Just checking in as its been a while!....Hope your all ok and plans are going well, welcome to all the new Sept 2011 people!

    We have now sorted the following:
    Church,Reception Venue,Photographer, Cake, Favours, started getting the jars for my candy buffet and going to sort my florist on Saturday.

    For anybody who uses vistaprint I ordered some lovely Save the Date Magnets and Postcards for £5 (that was just paying for the delivery, the other stuff was free!)

    There is still so much to do though, you dont realise until you start planning!

    Not posted in a while welcome all sept 2011 brides n grooms... most of us will be married or very nearly married by this time next year.... :j

    I can't believe just how quickly things have gone so far and how far behind some of you i am with planning.

    Things that are sorted
    - venue (same place for ceremony and reception)
    - registrar and time
    - my outfit, dress, tiara and veil (one pair of shoes bought although impossible to walk in :o but gorgeous and sparkly)
    - bridesmaids dresses ordered and deposit paid
    - colour finally picked!
    - OH wedding ring

    Things still to be done:
    - book hotel for night before wedding and for night of wedding
    - photographer
    - cars
    - flowers
    - invitations
    - kilt for OH and best man
    - bridesmaids / best man gifts
    - favours (we have jars out of ikea ... just need to figure out what to do with them :o)
    - place settings
    - table plan
    - bridesmaids accessories (bags, shoes etc)
    - jewellery for wedding
    - my wedding ring
    - cake

    Maybe im overthinking things but i've just had a weeks holiday and wanted to get the major things done but still not bothered and now there is less than a year to go am getting worried...

    Think i'll phone the hotel just now to see if they have the rooms available or worse case scenario i won't have anywhere to sleep the night before or on the night of the wedding :o

    Will update when i have anymore news or i have actually got off my backside and done something!

    What's annoying me or worrying me the most is that at the moment everything seems to be coming in over the budget i thought i'd be able to get it for which is really depressing me.... i wanted it to be a MSE wedding but everything i like is so expensive and am embarrassed to even tell you what things have cost... wish i could find some lovely things for a fraction of the cost of what i've been paying.

    Well i phoned the hotel am hoping to stay in the night before the wedding but still no phone call back :( .... im going to wait until 2moro then phone them again.

    My bridesmaid phoned me today to say that she was at a car boot sale and there was a woman selling wedding napkins, coasters, place cards and confetti for £5 a box which would do 50 people. She had 3 boxes which would have been £15 for 150 people so that would only be 10p for a napking and coaster which are white with wedding written in silver on it. The woman sold the 3 boxes to her for £10 which means it works out at 7p for each one.

    She's sent me a photo of them on my phone and they look quite good. Am thinking of using the paper coasters for sitting my favours on..... but then again its not such a big loss if we don't use all of them. Some of them can go on ebay if they are not what im looking for.

    Im not going to actually get them until next friday but once i have them i'll see if i can use them.

    Impet Limpet - that was really nice of them to lay on another registrar. Very glad you got the slot you wanted!

    Buddiebabe - how did you get on with your hotel?

    I got all my stuff for my invites and ordered some RSVP postcards from Vistaprint. Don't match my invites at all, but very pretty design (the one with the tree and a groom on one knee to his bride). Had colour printing on both sides, so they weren't free - but hey £10 for 100 is not too bad and I got a free pen too. :j:rotfl:
    Unfortunately the postcard design doesn't have matching business cards, which I would have used for placecards, so will have to get my thinking cap on!

    Hope everyone elses arrangements are coming along nicely! :D

  • I received some samples of fake foam flowers today, I'm thinking of having them for the bouquets and button holes, I'm mega impressed!

    Our weddings booked for 16th September 2011 so I finaly have a thread to join
    Booked the wedding last Friday and unfortunatley got paid off from work on Monday
    Never mind, already got money saved away for wedding things and been selling loads on Ebay too so I get to start booking things etc.
