Hi Abi. Welcome and congratulations!
I liked everything for you on Facebook, so hope you win the dress of your dreams. Time will fly by! Enjoy the planning.
Where are you holding your ceremony and reception (just out of nosiness!) if you don't mind saying? If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Hello everyone, Im back again. Its been a bit hectic here lately. 9 birthdays this month (7 children!) and having various other things to do, so haven't really had time to get back.
Im glad to see that people's plans are coming along nicely and that some good bargains have been found! Well done.
We've still not done a huge amount, but have one thing properly sorted (see below), so that's good. We have also decided to just go for the whole thing being on one day too, rather than a bigger reception type do the following weekend. People will have plenty of notice and, although we would like everyone to be able to come, we will just have to accept that some wont be able to attend - and they'll have the option of coming or not, so if they really want to, they wont mind it being a Monday.
Again, Id still feel hypocrytical getting married in a Church, but with the lack of interest from my partner in anything else at all and it now being November we have decided to go with the local Church. Hopefully we'll still get our date, as it is a Monday, and it does give some much needed money to the Church which I quite like the thought ofHave found a couple of ads of preloved for the Sincerity dress http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.listadverts/sec-Home+and+Family/cat-Marriage/subcat-Wedding+Clothes+and+Bridal+Wear/keyword-sincerity+3159+wedding+dress/1463f648.html - a lot cheaper than the shop you went toAnd one for the benjamin roberts - http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.listadverts/keyword-benjamin+roberts+2058a/a6a33eac.html - Youre right, they are both really gorgeous!!
You could also try others shops that carry the same designers.....the dress I want (Amanda Wyatt Madrid) is in my local shop for £1100 but found a shop who sells its it for £700!! Pays to shop around.
x
Thank you for those linksI had looked around (Google has been my friend! lol) and I think Id seen these, but they were not in my size and Id be spending the money saved on having them taken in, or out, most likely
Never mind though. I did find a nice simply dress in Debenhams while out shopping with my cousin. It was a size 14, which was FAR too big, but on the other hand it was only £36With some adjustments, a hoop and bit of netting I figured it would look lovely. It hasnt got the little straps though.
http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_008010150885_-1 (now a bit cheaper!)
However, I did take Mum into the local shop to show her the dresses I liked because she decided to say a few weeks after Id been in "Oh, I was going to help you, but not that much". Why could she not have said that earlier?! Parents, eh? So I took her in and we decided that the Sincerity one was MUCH better (and it fit, which it didnt in September!!) for me and Mum paid the deposit and we are paying the rest. It was also 10% off, so was £733.50, which isn't too bad. We're paying just over half and have until it is in the shop in June/July, so plenty of time to put the money aside and concentrate on other aspects!Hooray!
And Ive only told a few people that I have a new dress, so those who know about the £36 one will have a lovely surprise when Im all sparkly and poofy! lol
So if anyone would like (or knows someone who would) the Debenhams one above, for any reason, Id be more than happy to work something out. Im not sure how Id send it, as it hasnt got a bag or anything, but Im on the Norfolk/Suffolk border pretty much in the middle of Cambridge and Norwich if that helps
Im not sure on the rules of this on here, so I apologise if this goes against them, but feel free to pm me and I can give my email
OK, well I am off to look on eBay, Confetti and such for more ideas (Ive had lots) and then it's off to take the child to school. I will hopefully be back soon! ^_^0 -
Hello? I'm a Sept 2011 bride. Date set (24th), registry office and venue booked, well registry office 'provisionally' until we do all the paperwork stuff in December! Venue is on a beach in the North East so fingers crossed for good weather. Already seem to be spending alot of time looking online to see how 'cost effectively' I can get things done. So far thoughts are ebay / second hand / or dress from an online factory thang, cake / cakes Waitrose or M&S, and 1920s style postcards for invites (based on design which was used to promote the area we're getting married in!), paper lanterns to create a light path to the doorway and along the outside. Friend has poopoed my idea of jam / condiment jars filled with shells and a tea light for table dressing which I'd thought was quite good.
Is it terrible not to have favours? And do you actually have to have a colour scheme? It was a friend started talking about napkins matching your colour scheme that a "really?" popped out! Seems all like extra stuff to get hung up about to me. Need to keep decoration as simple as possible because at the moment the venue's saying we'll only have an hour / hour and a half to dress it before the guests arrive. Although who's going to do it is a mystery cos everyone will be at the ceremony ha ha!0 -
Hi fybee. Sounds like you're really organised.
You don't need favours if you don't want them. Even if you do they don't need to be expensive. We're having haribo. I think your table centrepieces sound lovely, so ignore your friend if that's what you want.
As for colour schemes, they kind of fall into place naturally. We're having ivory and burgundy which started because h2b is having a burgundy rouche with his kilt, then the bridesmaids dresses are burgundy and one of the bridesmaids asked for a shrug to hide her arms so that's where the ivory came in.
Remember there'll be photos between the wedding and the party so you could always rope in some friends who wont be in the photos to set up the room.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Hi everyone! Not posted on here in ages. Have now got quite a lot planned and have spoken to the registrar today who is going to send us all the forms and an info pack to look at
(is it quite sad that i'm looking forward to doing all the paperwork? lol) Our date is provisionally booked and she has assured me they only do 2 weddings a day and wont be giving it to anyone else *phew*. It all seems to finally be coming together, and have picked bridesmaids dresses which now means i have a colourscheme yay! Hope your all getting on ok with your planning xx

17th September! plenty of time to plan everything I hope!
Me too! Getting married in Donegal in Ireland but everyone else seems to have so much organized! I'm going about it in a bit of a random order...
We are away traveling around the world for all of 2010 which has been amazing. My fiance proposed (after 9 years together) in Rio on Valentines day. We booked the church and reception via phone/ email back then as we decided pretty quickly to get married there and we know the place.
I also booked the photographer who did a friend's wedding and comes highly recommended. He was nice enough to hold the date without a deposit until we get home at Christmas.
My mum won the bridesmaids dresses in a competition so I get to choose those from a new bridal store that has opened in Belfast (thanks mum!).
I bought pearls and pearl earrings while I was in hong kong for me and pearl bracelets for the 3 bridesmaids (bargain at 15 quid for the lot).
I got shoes made in Vietnam (it is fab, you show them a picture, they measure your feet and make them in a day). They fit really well and I some beautiful fake louboutins for 15 quid. (loved them so much i got her to make them in black too lol).
I'm not sure about the dress...I went shopping with my mum and sisters while home for a week for my sisters wedding. I saw one that I love but am gonna have a look while i'm in thailand and maybe get it made out here. Otherwise I have heard good things about milly bridal so also considering that.
My fianc! got a great suit cut in Bangkok for the wedding which looks really sharp (but I'm having to force him to save it till September cos he loves it so much).
I'm a bit worried about not having booked the band though... I want to wait until I'm back home at Christmas so I can go to see them. I just hope there are some still available!
Oh, also got some gorgey paper for the invites from Japan!
Can't believe how quickly the time is going in!0 -

I love your paper lanterns idea! And don't worry about what your friend says. Just make one up and check if it looks good and if it does then go for it.
As for the colour scheme thing, you can do whatever you want! Some people like everything to match exactly but I think you can tie it all together in other ways. My bridesmaids are gonna be in mocha but I don't think that will feature on the invites. There will be some red in the invites which links with the flowers, grooms tie and some ribbon maybe.
As for the hotel, maybe the bridesmaids could go there to dress it before the ceremony. Or if you have a friend who won't be in the professional photos, they could do it during the photos?0 -
Cheers, good idea!
Bargain accessory purchased today, lovely white pashmina with embroidery from the Christmas continental market for £3! Friend might have poopoed the jar / shell idea, but has offered her veil, tiara and shoes! Honeymoon is looking good - got a credit thing from easyjet which will help.0
