Obviously i didn't buy anything there, i was too disgusted, but its a well known bakery, all over the country i think. I just wondered whether i should send a letter of complaint to their HO and threaten them with environmental health or just contact environmental health directly?
 That's disgusting!! Personally I would just complain straight to environmental health...that kind of thing is appalling!Saving is the new spending! :A0 -
No - but it should be moved to another boardPrincessa wrote:I think that asking for compensation because you've taken different days off work waiting for a sofa to arrive which still hasn't arrived, or a utility bill being wrong and causing inconvenience, is more of an 'inconvenience' and more deserving of compensation than having no wafer in your kit kat. I still agree that it's poor quality and should be refunded, but I don't neccesarily think you should be 'compensated' for some things. I think sometimes compensation should be asked for, but I think sometimes it's xpected when it's not really needed.
(not having a go at whoever had no wafer in their kitkat, I know you found it a nice surprise to recieve a cheque and you didn't demand/expect it, but it was the first example I thought of from this thread)
I know exactly where you are coming from and, up to a point agree with you. However, take a different example....
You're camping, you've been hiking with the kids, its late and you find the pub has stopped serving food so you pop into the local shop and pick up a loaf of bread and a large tin of baked beans and sausages. You drive back to your tent, light your stove and then find that the bread is mouldy or the pull top on the tin breaks and you are stuck with nothing to eat. Do you not think that this is more than a slight inconvinience? Similar level of fault but totally different level of frustration.
Personally, I think that refunds and goodwill gestures should be expected but not fat compensation cheques except in exeptional circumstances.
And anyone going for fraudulant claims needs shooting - its not moneysaving, its putting extra pennies on the base cost which everyone then has to bear.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

Hi! I agree with you saying that compensation chques should only be expected in certain circumstances.
With the camping scenario, it's the inconvinicence which is more annoying than the mouldy bread, so I think that some sort of goodwill should be asked for, but not neccesseriliy expected. The way I see it is, that if you've had a bad service/bad product then you should complain to let them know they've done wrong, and you should expect a refund. People shouldn't complain on the pure basis that they want compensation. I think being inconvinienced in some way, such as the camping scenario, is different to say...having a dent in one can out of a pack of 24 beers, drinking all other 23 beers and bringing back the dented can asking for a refund AND to be compensated for the trouble is taking the mickey. And I've had many of them at work, lol!0 -

The trouble is that we now seem to have a society where everything is seen as a RIGHT and there are some on this site that are exhibiting all the symptoms.
Its my right to have a decent lifestyle.
Its my right to have this, that or the other mod con to the extend that borrowing on the never, never is accpetable for extravagant luxuries as well as essentials and when I get into debt its the loan company at fault and they should write it off.
Its my right to a decent job, even if I can't be bothered to get the qualifications or work hard when I'm there and if I can't get a job then the state should support the sort of lifestyle that I am entitled to.
If something goes wrong then it must be someone elses fault and its my right to not only have it fixed but I should get something extra for my trouble.
As a society we seem to have lost our sense of duty and our sense of right from wrong and I, for one, am sick and tired of us mothers getting the blame and I'm sick and tired of there being benefits out there to get me back to work. I don't necessarily want to work yet, I want to be at home and provide a good environment and teach my children good values. What happened to that as a right - if it is my right to get financial support to get me back to work then why isn't it my right to get support so that I can stay at home?7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

I should start a business:
Working in the customer service industry myself, I expect the kind of high standards when I am a consumer as (I hope) I give my clients.
I had an interesting experience with T-MOBILE, which resulted in both a COMPLAINT letter & a PRAISE letter

Being American, it is part of our culture to complain when we feel we have received shoddy service (however, we're just as quick to take the time out to send a kudo's if applicable)
I have received hundreds of airmiles from different airlines, free watches from Watch Station, free nights at various hotels, etc. I never abuse this. I simply perservere until I get the correct restitution, but I dont push for what I dont deserve. Many of my friends here have difficulty making a fuss. I actually remain calm & quite respectful, as often the person I am speaking to hasnt made the actual mistake. My husband has gotten used to me speaking up in a restaurant if its warranted. He does it now too.Debt & Mortgage free...0 -

all I got after being accused of theft by a customer assistant in front of a busy shop for using coupons for products I was purchasing was an apology letter telling me this doesn't usually happen. Customer service. Try customer joke from tesco.
Am very dissapointed and annoyed with them. I was so embaressed I was in tears after the incident plus the money I was out of pocket for my wasted trip as I walked out of the store before finishing the transaction as everyone was staring at me and baby was crying and they couldn't even send me a little goodwill gesture. Reckon Tesco are so full of themselves the customers who put them in the position no longer matter to them.
Good luck if you do complain but from my experiences central customer services are just as unhelpful and hostile as some of the instore ones.0 -
YesTesco's are bad for giving out 'goodwill gestures'... you don't usually get anything from them. If you're overcharged they're good cause they do the r+r, but they don't often give out vouchers etc, so when you complain you'll usually only get a letter back, it you're lucky!
Evilwitch, why did they accuse you of theft when you were using vouchers for which you'd bought the products? Did you write to the store or to head office?0 -
Noi have found with tesco that if u doit thru the online site u pretty much get nowhere.. u get a stock answer reply saying thats not their usual way of doing things, i actually replied to this and said it bore no relation to my actual complaint and made it even more annoying!!!
conversely when i complained direct to the manager of the store about another matter he was very helpful and gave me a couple of bottles of wine for my trouble.. perhaps you should go back in and ask to see the store manager (assuming u didnt do that in the first place)
