thankyou for all your lovely words. You are all so fab !!

    ooooooooh, my lord............

    I BOUGHT A CAR!!!!!!!!!!!

    Congratulations!
God, I hope I've done the right thing!!!!

You've done it for the right reasons - so of course you've done the right thing!
It is a P reg 1997 red Honda Civi Coupe. Sixth generation apparently. Low profile tyres and sporty wheels (which cost £400!!!) and a big shiny stainless steel exhaust.....bbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmm....

A boy-racer's car . Surprised it's an automatic...
It was on at £1,975 and I got it for £1,800 with 6 months tax and a 12 month parts warranty. I pleaded poverty as he didn't want to give me tax at £1,800 but he gave in!! Not much of a discount, but it is under book price and is very very luvverly!!

And you have a bit to spare if anything needs doing to it - like the furry dice need replacing...
Insurance will be about £2 a month more, but it should be better on petrol as it is a 1.6 engine.

She says... Every morning you'll want to hear it go "bbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmm...." on the way to work...
I played the 'oh my god, this is over my budget' and tried to get it for £1700 and failed but I would have paid full price to be honest - it is the one.

Well next time I get a car, I'll have to kidnap you to do my negotiating. You're obviously a lot better at it than I am.

  • Never been a boy (or girl!!) racer before..........brrrrrrrrrruuuuuuummmmmmmm!!!!!

OH had a minor strop about it. I called him from the garage to say I was taking it out for a test drive, although he knew I was going to look at it before he left this morning. He was messing around trying to sort out the £50 car (yes £50 not £500) he got his son to buy last weekend (a Rover!!) which unsurprisingly has a few problems!! This replaced the Escort which needed £150 of work for the MOT and he got all 'I'm sure this can be sorted cheaper'.

Anyway, he said 'give me 15 minutes' and I said 'no, I am taking it out now'. Anyway, I did the deal and as I was doing the paperwork, in he wandered. Afterwards, he said (get this) 'I should have waited and DS could have had your car, I didn't realise you were going to buy one so quickly'........HUH????????? I've been looking daily since I got the back pay and I've been planning this since last October!!!!!

What he really meant was - I've bought a pig in a poke by thinking I was going to be clever. It has all gone wrong and now I need to cover up my !!!! up by blaming you in some way.

He has also gone off Rovers..........

  • I'm sooooo glad you didn't buy a rover... (as I bet you are). Sorry about bringing up Master Chef the other day :)

Anyways, are you burning the boyracers off at the traffic lights yet?

No problem about Masterchef - their loss that they didn't get to try my fillet of silver bream with sea kelp and aioli and then braised rabbit with fennel and white truffle oil mash that I was planning for the next round!

No, not got it to go boy racering at the lights yet. They have their own MOT/service centre down the road and it goes in there on Monday for an all over check. He also needs to tax it for me. I think it will be Tuesday when I get it.

I'm excited about it - I keep wanting to jump in the car and go past the garage to see it with a SOLD sign in it!!

My new car (well, a picture of one identical!) http://www.hondarevolutions.com/images/6gCivcoup-24.jpg

I've put the VW on autotrader online. I'll put it on the works For Sale on Monday and see if I can sell it asap.

They are, and slower too. But on the bright side, you can burn off all the 'yoofs' pulling away from the traffic lights (unless they've got a bit of rare driving talent).

Mind you, without rear doors or rear winding windows, there's not going to be much nookie in the back of that car... :p  ;)

He couldn't even remember to put petrol in the old one so how much help was he going to be if you had bought his 'cheap' Rover????

Plus you committed the ultimate sin - you chose what was right for YOU!!!

None in the back of the current one or the previous one - and that was the Carlton estate - there was room for an orgy in that one!!!! :rotfl:

Right, I'm off to make a chocolate beetroot cake........as you do.......
