That is what went through my mind yesterday, it was a bizarre mix of shock and then excitement and then feeling a bit sick in case it is wrong. I'm sure I've been given too many increments, but they have paid me at the higher salary for two months now.
I'm not even going to think I will get a huge amount, because I can't understand how they got from my old salary to the new one. I'm going to expect just a little bit of back pay to cover the last two years and then see the big pay rise as effective from November. I saw a lovely Mazda 626 Automatic for sale last night but it is £1500 so am not allowing myself to even think that I could comfortably afford it with the back pay. It is also insurance group 15, so would put my premium back up again.0 -
Just wanted to say how great your diary is! I started reading it yesterday evening and finally finished in the early hours of this morning.
You really should consider writing a book. I was so disappointed when I got to the last post as it was like getting 3/4 of the way through a book and then finding the last pages were missing!
So, please, could you hurry up and post some more! What's happening with 'him' (he's a bad 'un...)? How's Cruella today...?
You're doing so well with getting your debt down you should be really proud - it's very inspiring

Fantastic news about the pay - fingers crossed for you that it's not just all a dream and they snatch it away...
I had a Mazda 626 - it didn't go round corners very well. It was very reliable though and I drove it for years and put 10's of thousands of miles on it without any problems.
I must have been really near the 200,000 mile mark (that was my target milage) when I went round a corner on a slip road and hit the kerb, buckled the wheel and related bits.
The 'funny' thing was that when I got out of the car to look at the damage and look at the kerb, I noticed a used condom in the gutter. I really wanted to put that I'd skidded on a used condom on the claim form to win the 'claim of the week', but I thought I'd better not.
The insurance company wrote the car off - it had been a good and trusty friend, but the cornering was its undoingOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 208 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts DEBT FREE DECEMBER 2008!!!0 -
Cruella is wearing a 3/4 length leopard skin fur coat today, I saw her swanning off to a meeting.........think fashion a la Bet Lynch.......... I only saw her briefly as she was leaving the building, but i'm hoping she has teamed it with the red wool suit she owns, the fishnets and the knee high boots she oftens wears....
OH is being OK at the moment, but not particularly proactive or enthusiastic about anything. Told him he was a grumpy old man yesterday in jest (every word was like a line Victor Meldrew would say!), he took umbridge and sulked like Kevin and Perry!
I'm afraid you are all stuck with me for a while
I'd love to write a book, but I'm not sure I could write a fiction novel.
Any publishers out there want me for my wit, style and snappy writing talent?? Go on, you know you want me really!!!! I could have one of names like JK Rowling or JRR Tolkien - MSE Minx?

And as to writing a book, I think the best way to find out if you can, is to try.
I only stumbled across your thread this morning - wanted to say congrats on the money! What a lovely surprise! I hope it all 'comes true' and you get enough for the car and some to spare.Miggy

You certainly can put me on your list!
Blimey, probably best they don't ask about the origins!! :rotfl:

I knew someone who had an interview for an internal job at nood. They spent the morning in a jacket - come dinnertime - they took the jacket off to go for the interview....
