The only reason we pay Sky £15/month is for that cookery channel!
Jenny Barnet (sp?) is worth every penny though...
I used to like Greg when he did his Veg thing with Charlie, but he seemed a bit weird on Master Chef.
I'm trying to think of some foodie presents for Christmas - any thoughts?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 208 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts DEBT FREE DECEMBER 2008!!!0 -

oooohhhhhhhhh, how long a list do you want??!!
Homemade fudge and truffles (MSE recipes)
Really good quality knife set
mixed oil kit (NEXT have a nice one, in test tubes)
Piece of Le Creuset (if you want to splash out!)
Do a hamper? Fill with spices, line with an apron, chopsticks, flavoured oil, bottle of chilli sauce, pizza cutter, chinese bowls, recipe book etc etc etc (pick a theme ie Chinese food and work from there!)
Book about chillies and then order a load of different dried chillis
Voucher for Lakeland
Bags of curry mix - have a look at Rafi's Spice Box, they are fantastic.
Paella dish plus some saffron and Spanish rice
fudge kit from QVC
oooohhhhhhh, I could go on for hours!!0 -
:rotfl: Thanks for that!
If only life were so easy...
- She doesn't like fudge
- I'm not to get her a knife set or a Le Creuset for Christmas (specific instructions - these are the things she mentions all year round 'but not for a present')
- She's very specific about which olive oils we have
etc etc
HOWEVER -
Paella dish plus some saffron and Spanish rice. Now that has got me thinking as we're both big fans of Spanish cooking. She did say she wanted a bigger Paella dish ('but not for a present'), but maybe, like you say, I could put something together on a theme.
Excellent - thank you very much!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 208 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts DEBT FREE DECEMBER 2008!!!0 -

I suggested buying this for someone's 4th birthday - but everyone looked at me as thought I was mad. Good knifes - never come in wrong...

I have been tied to my screen every spare minute for the last two days fighting my way thru this thread. WOW...what a read!!! I must say that my debts are no where near the levels that others have and are an irritant at worst, but I can see from here just how easily I can rid myself of these irritants without too much hassle, and keep on top of them without letting them spiral out of control. There has been a lightbulb moment in this household too, and I have the addictive Oakdale_minx to thank. This is an inspirational read.... keep up the good work and get rid of that waste of time of a bf!!! You are worth your weight in gold when it comes to money saving ideas and the real life ups and downs of getting by. You put EVERYONE, even that ogress of a boss, before yourself. Give yourself a break and have some fun and treat yourself to a little summat over the xmas.0

And was there really any need to breathe a sigh of relief quite that loudly..?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Having a fab evening. OH has gone to his Christmas do, I'm on AQA. I've got a pastie in the oven and the Friday Night Glitz Mix on the radio. Who needs overpriced, conveyor belt food in a soul less hotel masquesrading as a Christmas party??!
The shopping was delivered and two lettuces, some ham and some Flora was in the order that I hadn't asked for. Thankyou Mr T!0 -
I am really proud of myself for not giving in to temptation and having a takeaway last night as I had the house to myself. My pastie was lovely!!! I did £30 on AQA last night which was good. I'm going to do some more today, I don't need to go out anywhere/spend any money.
At 3.30 this morning my phone started to ring. After realising it was ringing, I answered it - nobody there (dead line sound). It did this again about 6 more times. I knew it would be my OH wanting a lift back from wherever he was at his party. Finally it connected (I heard somebody say 'it will connect with her from here - a member of staff I guess) and I said 'hello'. I knew I sounded tired and probably a bit grumpy as i'd answered the phone so many times with there being nobody at the other end and it was 3.30!!! He said 'What do you mean, hello?' and I replied I had been asleep. He said 'fine' and as I asked if he wanted a lift, he put the phone down.
I did 1471 and it was a with held number so I literally had no idea where he was as he hadn't told me where the meal was being held. He arrived at 4.30, I guess he got a taxi, which would have been about £15 or so depending where he had come from. And he HATES paying for taxis (wouldn't have minded me using my petrol though to go and get him!)
He walked into the bedroom, picked up his fleece. I said 'I dialled 1471, but it was a with held number". He said nothing, walked out the bedrooom, picked up the keys to his own house and left. He must have walked home in the rain, as he left his car outside my house before he went last night (I was out at the time).
I now feel guilty for how I must have sounded on the phone, but I was half asleep and it was 3.30!!! If it had been me, I would have been so apologetic for waking him up before asking for a lift, rather than 'what do you mean, hello'.
It was 6 before I went back off to sleep, I felt annoyed at him. So I'm tired today!!0
