My bloody mortgage has gone up again!
I am stuck with a really really awful tie in until May. If I want to get out, I have to pay 3% redemption and i've done the figures a few times and the best option is to grit my teeth.
When I got the mortgage, I knew it would be a sub-prime one and I took the first I was offered by the broker as I needed to move quickly. I thought I'd signed for a fixed rate for three years, but I found out too late I'd signed for a discounted rate for 1 year, but a 3 year tie in........aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh.

just popped in to Somerfield and got my turkey crown from there, and cancelled the ocado one. Saved another £10 off my shopping!0

I've not posted on this thread before and I'm also very wary of people posting with advice to break up with partners, usually based on little information and without seeing the full picture. But your situation has moved me to post, so post I shall!
Why are you with your OH? I don't mean that question in a flippant way, I really mean it. And I think it's probably time you answered it honestly for yourself. What do you get out of being with him?
My friend always says you have to balance the emotional equation and when it doesn't add up, then it's time to call it quits. From where I'm sitting, you get very little out of this relationship and you give everything. He isn't going to change, not while you allow him to get away with this kind of behaviour. And frankly, it's appalling. The way he treats you isn't the way you should treat somebody you love.
I appreciate that I don't see the full picture, nobody here can. But I do think you need to ask yourself that question, and think long and honestly about it. Why are you with your OH?
I hope things go well for you next year, you've certainly worked hard enough for it!0 -
my mortgage has gone up aswell  damn interest rates - they hadn't moved in 5 or 6 years so when we were offered a variable rate (only option really from bad credit etc) we thought it would be ok but it keeps creeping up... like you we are tied for 3 years but I am on the lookout for a company that we can switch to who will pay the early termination fee!
Im glad you have saved more on your shopping list - I got my turkey yesterday from Aldi for the bargain price of £5.69 (it weighs 10lb!!) just got to get the veg to go with it now...0 -
Like Climbgirl my instinct, reading your thread, was that your OH wasn't contributing to the relationship in some ways.
But of course we are all judging him based upon having all the facts, a luxury he doesn't have! When he doesn't put petrol in the car he has no idea that this causes genuine suffering because he hasn't been appraised of the whole situation. I think like many situations the best starting point is complete honesty. If he knew quite how difficult it was for you to make ends meet he might have a different approach.
Sorry to interfere just a thought I was having earlier today.0 -
Hi OM, like others on here I have just spent hours reading this from the start!
You are in inspiration to so many on here and deserve much better than the ******* (insert any form long list of words here) of an OH than you have!!!.
Not sure about your job - is it just the boss that's causing the problems??? Cos it seems to be you're a creative type and would be far better off running a teashop or nice bistro where you can cook & create all day. If you sold up & moved North would you have enough funds for something like that???
Good luck with new job hunting in the meantime!Debt 17 12 06 - £7700. 1st Feb 07 £6903, getting there1st March 07 £6666 (yikes!) 1st April 07 £6329 17.8% 1st May £6085.48 21%, 1st June £5522.13 28.3%, 1st July £5194.46, 32.54%, 1st Aug £4700, 39%, 1st Sept £4411, 42.7% :j :j:j

Thankyou all......again...........I am sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of support available here. You are all fantastic people. I would love to have some little bistro or something like that. If I moved now and paid off my mortgage and secured laon, I would have around £80,000 left over. My sister has just bought a 3 bed terrace all re-furbed for £70,000, so although my choices geographically would be limited, I could certainly have the opportunity to move North in some way.
It is payday tomorrow - then the long slog to the end of January. To be honest, as I'm not going out christmas or new years eve, I can't see that I will need any money between tomorrow and the end of the month anyway.
It would be fantastic if I got all my back pay tomorrow, but Ithink it will probably be the end of January (or February even)
If you see a post from me on my diary tomorrow saying woo hoo - you know I have got it!!0 -
I think you should go for the bistro thing - it sounds as if you are a brilliant cook - imagine, debt free running your own business :j0

Hi OM
I've just found this thread and have spent the day (yes day) reading it, well I've done the odd bit of work in between, oh and I've eaten lunch too. Hope you don't mind me adding my 2p worth.
Like a pp said, you've definately got a book in there somewhere, your story is inspiring. A real page turner. Bit upset I've read it all now. All we need is the happy ending, starting with the bank charges back.
I really hope the work situation is sorted out, personally I'd wait and see what the outcome of the January meeting is before making any plans to jump to another dept. I'm thinking the dragon knows she needs you and she's sucking up for her own ends.
