If she has children kibs, which I'm guessing she has to get a laptop, go to the website I mentioned before and get it for £39.

    Hi,

Is there anything for people who live on their own (and have no partner/children), and who receive income support?

Not under this scheme, but lots of others that you are probably eligible for.

due to illness we now qualify for this, however i used to build computers for a living so dont really require their support and i have all the software that my children need on disc at home, so i do believe you should be able to take off some of these extras and be able to spend more on a better spec computer, surely the computer will be covered by a 12 months manufacturers guarantee anyway?
some people will undoubtedly need more help than us but i think you should be able to opt in

can understand what your saying , but if you look on argos website the samsung 2gb is £350 , add the 12 months pre paid dongle , the laptop case , the mouse and the delivery , it does work out that your getting the full amount , a 12gb 3 mobile broadband is about 80 quid , with the package off home access u get a 12 month pre paid with a 3gb a mont limit .... plus its free so i didnt question the spec , as there is some folks who are not entitled and still cant afford a home pc

I Heard from Someone yesterday that someone they know had a cheque for £800 sent to them for a laptop and i said no way would that happen if it was home access that they got the grant from as ive never heard of them giving a grant out of that much and also paying it by cheque so i think some Information there has gone a bit wrong.

That can't be right. The amount comes in the form of a pre-loaded card for £580, I can't see them issuing cheques out lol

I don't think they would pay by cheque as it could be spent on anything. Nor do I think they would give £800 as I believe £580 is the maximum.
I wonder if someone is telling porkies.
The problem is as some are not happy that others are getting a grant they could be inclined to exaggerate to make it sound really bad. All I keep reading is that all those that get the laptops will sell them for ciggies and drugs.

Nice to know those of us on benefits are thought of so highly!
