Sorry if this has been asked and I think I already know the answer but will ask anyway. If I go to Comet's website, must I only select the packages under the home access page? or can I go to the PC and laptop section and select a laptop within my grant's budget.
I don't want to sound ungrateful but the laptops under the home access section are seriously overpriced (if I were buying with my own money) I found many laptops that are 3 times more powerful on Comet's site for the same price.
yes you can only have the one they are offering which after looking into is the worst of the lot , i know what you mean your not being ungrateful your just trying to find the best deal , i spent hours looking through what was on offer and found only 1 site that was offering a free 2gb upgrade , all the others were only offering a 1gb , the service i got from that company was brilliant ... positive IT ,they only have a choice of 2 either a laptop or a netbook ...laptop being the better one , it was delivered in 3 working days and is a superb little laptop i read every post in this forum and a few have slated the comet acer one as being rubbish , here is the best one i found out of all the ones on offer , if you want any more details please feel free to contact me :-)
sorry cant post the link as the forums dont allow it but its easy to find online just type in positive IT home access0 -

I ordered Samsung Laptop on 08/03....still waiting! It hasn't even left the warehouse yet! It's in the que. They have no idea whatsoever when it will be delivered. Maybe Thursday next week, maybe not! Seems like I've been waiting ages. They are sooo unhelpful. Wish I'd not payed the extra money to them now and gone with Positive IT and got free printer and memory stick. Was trying to do the right thing by my daughter by getting additional educational pack. :mad:0

IT positive deliverd in 3 working days , i very nearly went with a company Bli education or something like that as it was offering £570 worth of software , however its not what it seems , its programes already installed on the pc and they are not on disc for backup purpose and after 4 phone calls to find this out and no reply and reading the reports of that company i stayed away as it seems that 1 company only seems interested in taking orders and customer service is zero and peopel are waiting weeks for the laptops to arrive , hope you get yours soon , i can highly reccomend IT pos they were brill , even after they had a glich on the screen and my order came back as card unavil , the manager called me back and sorted it ASAP , and i had the added bonus of a 2gb laptop instead of a 1gb , they are the only site that were offering this free upgrade :-)0 -
So anyone who is on working tax credits but is on less than £10k doesnt qualify?
if your gettin working family tax cred i dont think you can apply , as there is a wage coming in and the gov is making that wage up for a better income , its child tax cred only .... i think , thought you only got working tax cred on 16k and over ??0 -

I find it disturbing that they included Windows 7 on a low powered netbook/laptop with only 1GB of RAM, that's going to be very sluggish.
Positive IT offers the Samsung laptop with an extra free GB of RAM which is good but in my opinion, the Toshiba is the best laptop due to the ATI 3200 onboard graphics chip... I believe it supports Direct X 10 which will give a slight performance boost in games that may struggle to run and could possibly help with video playback. The GMA 4500 on the other devices is a very poor graphics chip.
So maybe it's a good idea for me to select the Toshiba and buy a 2nd hand RAM stick on eBay? How difficult is it to open a laptop and slot the RAM in compared with a PC?0 -

they are not meant for playing games thou , thats why they aint giving really expensive laptops out , they are for learning and school work
as for opening up a laptop and insering more ram i not got a clue
i went for the samsung as its a duel core ...im not very clever with pc's but was told that the samsung was the better of the 2
