i removed it as my daughter as used facebook , but is monitored and only uses laptop downstairs , i cant see how removing the netintelligent will void the warranty , as if the pc is going to break down it will break with or without it , as net intelligent is a software , not hardware issue , its our daughters laptop but will be used occasionally by thefamily , and net intelligence stops a lot of things , like banking , or even going onto the national lottery site to check the results , if you monitor your own child i cant see the prob in removing it , i think it can be re installed any time it needs to , when we recived the laptop u have to activate the net intelligent with the code that comes on a piece of paper , once you have activated it there is also a decativation code

many thanks for that andyfrank when i receive mine i'm going to remove it from my daughters, i'l mention it to my friend about being able to remove it, not sure if she'l remove it though , she'l prob be to scared :rotfl:

how sad is this, my son goes to a private school, s.e.n. and all pupils there are state paid for due to special needs and lack of provision in our area he gets free school meals but ...wont qualify for the laptop...:(

Did you know you can get a free laptop via the family fund? Google them, they are fantastic and give grants for all sorts-even washing machines or driving lessons if will benefit the child. I think your child needs to get DLA to apply . Sometimes they give holidays. The computers can have special additions such as special screens etc if your child needs it,so better even than this Govt offer. Apply as soon as you can, as they take around 3 months to process a clain but it's a simple form and easy application process.

When is Scotland Ireland and Wales getting it .Time we got you :money: fighting for this for all of the UK .I won't get it but we all pay taxes , This Government is being racist

It's already been pointed out, several times,on this thread, that Scotland and Wales (don't know about N Ireland)get things that England desn't,ie free prescriptions, better access to many treatments via nhs/cancer treatments etc and also Scotland offers much cheaper fees at Uni than England does. I would have been far better off with 3 of those than a free laptop-as I have a child at Uni,have had cancer and paid prescription fees for many years with a chronic illness before being diagnosed with Cancer!

Hi ,just like to say I actually do pay for my prescriptions, would also like to comment on at one time I did a calculations for benefits (not that I am on any )but found benefits were more down England .After all if it is suppose to be the United Kingdom then we all should be treated the same and without you being defensive I agree with you when it comes to your health we should all be treated in the same way .I did not personally attack you I do however accuse the government for putting a divide between us all .

Stop moaning about what England gets, you guys shouldn't have voted for your own parliment. Same old story, no complaints when you are receiving all the massive tax subsidies from England, but when you don't get one little laptop all are on here complaining.

You might not have got the memo, but Ireland left the UK in 1922.

Janie apologies re the prescriptions as I just looked it up:you pay £4 compared to our current £7.20. Everyone in England pays more taxes to subsidise Scotland so as others have said, the laptop issue really is small fry. From my experiencewith friends and relatives living over the border, many of Scotlands schools put a lot of those in England to shame! With a different parliament obvicously there will be differences between the two. I do however appreciate the fact that your post was very polite! Sort of rare on this website!

Here is a link to the netintelligence knowledge base:
    http:// kb.netintelligence.com/pages/Category:Netintelligence_Home_Access
It should answer all questions regarding how to unblock sites, setting up profiles.
When determining the terms of the scheme, it was decided that some social networking sites posed security threats and were therefore blocked by default.
Due to the age range of the children eligible for the scheme (years 3-9) it wouldn't be appropriate for children in the lower age range to be able to access sites like facebook (considering the facebook minimum age is 13).
These sites can be unblocked by using the help topics in the above link. Keeping netintelligence on the machine will mean that inappropriate content can still be blocked.

I work for netintelligence, I just want to make sure everyone has access to the information they need. The above link will show you also how to safely remove netintelligence if that's what you decide. The link won't work (as i'm not allowed to post them yet), just remove the space between the / and k.
