Thanks for the advice already given. I obviously have misunderstood what is available which isn't unusual for me of late. I thought that fixed line internet connection was on offer not only mobile.
It appears from other posts that there is some way to find out the expected coverage from the providers participating in the scheme. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction so that I can make a decision regarding a dongle, as otherwise the funds will be best going back into the pot for others. But there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!0 -

Thanks only_mee! Looks like I can use a dongle if I sit in the garden! LOL! Only outdoor coverage for me - if you see a woman and a kid sat on Haytor with a laptop, that'll be us

Mine also said within 10 days, i just thought that was a standard message at the end of any sale, but now it's got me wondering has anybody actually got next day delivery from XMA, i did order at 10.30am and it did say orders before 5pm weekdays is next day delivery.
Our laptop is the samsung R519 from XMA. I ordered it and they said next day delivery. True to their word, we got next day delivery. But better than that, the delivery company sends you a text to say when they will deliver. It states a 1 hour window - which i thought was excellent. We were told it would be between 10.36am and 11.36am. Arrived at 11am on the dot & delivery driver appologised as he'd had trouble finding our address, even with a satnav. Can't fault the service.0 -

Didn't take long, did it?

"Mr Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, said: "There is very little policing of the scheme and there is nothing to stop a minority of recipients from selling their laptops in exchange for cash.
"I haven't seen anybody down the market selling them, but I have been informed by my constituents that there are people who have sold them."
One of Mr Pritchard's constituents, mother-of-two Debbie, contacted the MP after her children were told they were not eligible for the scheme."

Hi everyone, wonder if you can help me out please.
My son has got the full £528 grant but doesn't want a laptop he prefers to have a computer. Has anyone got any advice on which one we should pick? I have no idea of what would be the better computer at all. Are they really more or less the same specification?
Also if anyone can recommend who to order it off online. (Sorry!)
We have to have the '3' dongle as we have no T-Mobile coverage where we live.
Really appreciate any replies
Thanks to you all0 -
hi Karen2
i posted a similar query earlier in the thread, i am also after a pc for my children as a pose to a laptop, as there 10 and 7 and i as thinking in a cpl of yrs that it would be all too easy to sneak off to the bedroom and be on msn/facebook etc with a laptop and want a pc so its fixed in family room so it can be used for its intended purpose educational homework etc,
anyway i was alittle disspointed that there is a just a choice of 2 pcs but its free so i cant complain. have you found both of them 1 on misco with a tower and 1 on bli education msi all in one style, someone on here said that they are pretty similar in spec but the msi one only has windows xp system on it which someone said isnt a good combo with 3G dongle, and the misco one has windows 7 which is the latest version, and i think you get microsoft offfice 2007 with that too (dont quote me on it though)
i dont mind windows xp as that what my laptop had before it died and i have free sky internet so im hoping to go for the msi all in one as i think my daughters will really enjoy the free educational software you get with bli, but its personal choice i guess hope that helps, good luck
as for me my card came this morning so going to order online now while im at me mums, not sure how long delivery is on there though anyone used them?0
