I applied for one for my 12yo son and it went through really quickly, it arrived on Friday and now i can't get him off the flippin thing!
I opted for the t-mobile option as I was told that '3' piggy-back the t-mobile signal so the t-mob would be stronger. Make sure you check coverage for your area before you chose your package. <thumbs up>:jXmas Pressy Challenge:jOnly buying pressies if they are mega cheap, heavily discounted or free.

2gb/month allowence? one good download to update windows 7 and thats most of the allowence gone for the 1st month! advisible when you first get it is to update windows on someone elses broadband,no doubt there will be a fair amount of updates for windows at first that will eat up your monthly allowence!
Yeah we've got 2gb/month and my son has used half of that in 3days
T-mob say that the fair usage policy means that downloads and certain sites etc will be put on hold when you get to 2gb but you can still do basic surfing for the rest of the month til it resets.
Deffo do the first 'surf' on another broadband if poss as you'll need to update virus protection/windows updates/net intelligence (which detects adult content):jXmas Pressy Challenge:jOnly buying pressies if they are mega cheap, heavily discounted or free.

lucinad - yes, ours arrived with 2GB.
Fortunately, we'll be mostly using it on ADSL anyway, so the mobile dongle is for when we are (erm) mobile.
My first actions were to install Firefox and Microsoft Office.
The machine did several updates.0 -
My card came this morning ordered the r519 from XMA and didn't need pin number, i think if ordering online you don't need to wait for your pin number.0

I have just received my child benefit letter and sent off my form, but on thinking further I am not sure whether I should be opting for the internet to be included. Can anyone give me some advice please?
I became a single parent in the last year, and already knew my daughter could not survive with her homework without the internet which she was used to when we had a wage coming in. I was on a promise that my ex would maintain and thought I would manage somehow, so I signed up for a year broadband which was the minimum term. Therefore I am tied in for about another four months. We are very rural so there are only one or two broadband providers out here and reception is flaky in mobile terms.
What I am not clear on from the forms and online is whether they will cover the cost that I am already signed up to, or can offer me an alternative reliable service from now or when my contract ends? I don't think a mobile dongle will be much use to us in the foothills of Dartmoor and we don't often go places where we would take a computer with us so it would be of little point it seems.
What option would you choose? And if I don't opt for the internet option with the package does it give me more help toward the computer itself?
I hope that all makes sense? Any perspective appreciated. But there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!0 -

Hi if you dont request the internet you just get the computer, you dont get any extra money towards the computer or any money to cover the cost of your existing internet.
They only provide a mobile broadband dongle from 3 or T mobile, you can check the coverage to see which of those is best in your area.

As said, there is no benefit to you in ordering the dongle if it won't work, or you won't use it - you still only get £400 for the computer.
However, if you do just order the computer, the money they would have given you for a wasted dongle will stay in the pot and hopefully help another family get online.

Received my card this morning and ordered the Samsung from XMA too.
My kids are going to be chuffed to bits when this arrives. I am really grateful albeit still surprised that I am going to get one.0 -
