Another thing to note is the so called warranty. If you accidentally drop it and a part breaks, then the "warranty" does not cover it. The warranty only covers it if it breaks on its own (a.k.a due to hardware failure.) A recent fault appeared on the laptop and they said that we had to pay something ridiculous like £187 to have it repaired.

its the same with any electrical good. its a warrenty for the quality of the product, not an insurance policy (tho your home contents should cover accidental damage).

its like a car warrenty - if you crashed the car would you expect the warrenty to cover it ?
  • I just thought I'd give this a quick bump.

My little brother received his laptop through PositiveIT. The problem is, for the past 4 months they haven't sent him any new simcards for the 3G. 2 months ago I rang them up on their now very expensive premium rate number @ 50p a minute! Waited on the phone for 10 minutes and they said they will just add up the two months together and send it on one simcard. Anyway, this was a two ago and he told me last week that he never received the sim from before so I just tried calling them again (the third time this week) and waited 10 minutes each time to have the phone hang up!!

Does anyone by any chance have the old 0845 number handy for PositiveIT? They slap on a premium rate number for you to call, then refuse to pick up costing you a fortune! Sick!

I just did a whois check on the domain to pull up another number, and I did... 0123456789... I'm pretty sure that's breaking some laws. I phoned up LCN, they said they can't give out account info, I pointed out the fake info on whois, he said he'll look into it. Pfft.

then you have no right to sell it!

Why did you apply for it if you never intended on using it. That dongle could have gone to a family that really needed it.
  • You have no right telling me I have no tirght to sell it as I do not have internet at home and I found out after I got it that coverage in my area is not good.

Yes actually I DO have the right to tell you that you should not have sold it. It was in the contract that you signed when you applied for the laptop and dongle that you couldn't sell either.

So sorry you are totally in the wrong and I hope that you will be refunding the buyer ASAP and getting the dongle back.

If you clicked the link on the first post it says
At the start of 2010 the government's Home Access Grant made available 270,000 grants for low income families with children living in England (there were no plans to provide the scheme in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland) for internet access at home.
Them 270,000 grants are now long gone.
