Does anybody know if this scheme is going to be available in Scotland or will we be the ones to miss out???? I have a son at 14 and my computer has just given up the ghost. He is at an age where he really needs a computer for homework and coursework as his school workload is steadily starting to increase now he is coming towards the final years of his schooling. We are currently borrowing a laptop from a neighbour but this isn't an ideal situation as she uses it herself for her home business and lets us use it for about an hour in the evening so my son can get his homework done.
This would be ideal for us, I am a disabled, single Mum in reciept of benefits and would, as I have previously said, help us greatly.
If someone could let me know if this scheme is going to be available to all across the UK, rather than just England, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks.

hi..im probably posting in the wrong place,im sorry if i have!! have a very similar question+couldnt find any replys to your question..Will the home access grants be available to people under the same government, although not residing in England???any
help or information would be greatly appreciated...thanx
  • Hi,
has anyone had experience of claiming on XMA home access warranty and what it covers etc....
I am eager to know as I have emailed XMA a few times asking for warranty information but have had no reply. My friend ordered the Toshiba L450D and recieved it around March, the left mouse button has already come loose and stopped working. Has anyone else had this??

  • As suggested above, install Firefox. It is much more stable than Internet Explorer 8 and will also work happily with Net Intelligence. :)

Could be router/intenet issues if other computers are working fine.
  • they get everything... is there anything like this for learning disabled college students? i couldnt even brag a decent laptop out of my college for my work. the one they gave me is knackered hardly turns on and when it does it resets itself.. and as im not on a degree/undergrad course i cant ask the council for their disabled student grants

yet im on income support...so cant afford a new laptop with the endless streams of programs on it like dragon and imagination on it for me to keep going with my coursework.

surly theres got to be something for us too?

Yes, there is - so contact your college and ask about the Hardship and Access to Learning Funds and stop whining about how everybody else gets something free.
