People say they are overpriced, but when you think about it....
They have to include Theft insurance for the laptop and dongle, that has to be worth at least £20?
They are including a years mobile broadband at 3GB a month fair use...
According to tmoblie.co.uk, that alone is £165 (possibly more for a 12 month package rather than 18 as per their site... sorry I cant post links!!)
They all include Office 2007, at a cost of around £60
They all include Windows 7 Professional, not Home Premium, so thats at least £20 extra.
They all include Netintelligence for a year, which you may find annoying but is what the government specified, a years licence on this is also around £20.
Given that, there is only £243 or less going towards the actual laptop, this is why the specs aren't amazing.0 -
we chose no free broadband so got a £400 voucher, comet must be making a nice profit.0

just to up date, the forms arrived today, 3 days after phoning, but you do need a childbenefit letter, naming the child you are applying for, they will accept one from dec08, but child benefit, routinley misses the names off the forms, now so you will have to phone them up and ask for one.prizes LadyBird Beanie, £100 of Books, a lip gloss, 5 famous 5 books, Roary racing car book, childs shape sorter0

The only real gripe I have is with the siteminder (is that what it's called?) software, which renders the laptop nearly useless for web use.
I didn't want to register an account, so I've still got to get around to either removing it or reinstalling Windows.
(I think a chunk of the money pays for that, so that's been a waste!)0 -
You can deactivate but you need to register first to get your password.
Totally removed that from my sons.0
