    Dear MSE

I want to say that we were very disappointed with our laptop for a number of reasons:!

You could always go out to work and buy your own :rotfl:
  • I am coming clean, but no abuse please as the problems arent mine, but the Project was.:o
I am new to MSE, and wasnt aware that they still had PC's left as I pulled out last year when my back went. I havent been in touch with anyone from the project but I will, quickly re outline the reasons for the scheme.
The government decided that low income families werent getting online as much as the more affluent, and so set up various schemes,. My scheme is the one H/A was based on, without the requirement to attend a basic pc course, which covered the basics you need to know.

There still should be a choice of computers available. If you have internet access at home, you can use a router to allow a laptop on it, but a desktop model will NOT connect without a special adaption.
Most of what are offered are actually Netbooks, a smaller version of the Laptop, and can be quite limited as to what they can do.

They should be Pre-installed with a variety of softwares, each company is different, and should have a 3 yr support licence so that if it goes wrong, you can send it off and they will repair it. But if you have done something like crack the screen you will have to pay for it.

As to how the machines are doing , in honesty, I dont know, but as my son now gets free school meals,:rotfl:, I have sent off for the application form, and will find out for myself:rotfl:

I'll let you know how it goes, but I couldnt believe how many were left:eek:, as most of those eligable in the Oldham area took it up.

I sent off for a application form ages ago as i thought i would try and apply when my daughter went up into year 3 which she will now when she returns to school the start of September, but then i heard that they were stopping the scheme but then after reading the MSE newsletter and seeing that there are still grants available i thought i would send it off now,

Does anyone know whether we might be successfull or would we only get the grant if she was in year 3 last year?

Prob send it off just in case anyway.
  • we reicevd laptop a few weeks ago from comet, they said you only had 1 choice toshiba, 1gb memory. thought it seemed odd just 1 but hey its free.

A lot of posters complaining that they didn't receive top-spec laptops.

Here's a radical solution - If you don't like your free laptop send it to me - I will reimburse what you paid for it... I'll even pay for postage if it powers up.

So many ungrateful recipients - they should have offered the laptops to those who do not or cannot have children - they might appreciate it.
Energy prices are rising fast so if you like my comment, thank me quickly so you can shut down your computer sooner..! And if you believe Al gore you'll be doing your bit for the planet
  • :jPLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP......IS THIS AVAILABLE IN WALES AND IF SO DOES ANYONE HAVE A TEL NO I CAN CALL TO APPLY? THANKS XX
