Bye Bye Orange (merged)

It is with no regret that my 7 year contract with Orange is terminated today. Since France Telecom took over the control of Orange, all the benefits of using Orange have now gone out of the window. Some examples are...

* Free calls on Freephone numbers, now 10p a minute

* Free Itemised Billing, now £1.50 a month

* Value for money contracts. O2 PAYG is cheaper!

I also tried getting my PAC number today, but they wouldn't give me it quoting that I should have asked for it when I gave my 28 days notice. I only delayed due to the PAC only lasting 28 days!

3 years ago, I recommended Orange to friends and family. Today I would recommend everybody leaves & quickly!

OK, anger vented... rant over

Compounded also with the fact that their handset selection is the poorest of any major uk network.

Shame - they used to be SOOO good.

excellant decision. They are all dicks basically :)

stick with 02, and enjoy free international calls and 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0800 numbers (from your Xnet minutes) :)

    yeah

France Telecom is a crap company: in France, because they cant retain their consumers for communications, they are charging so much for line rental that my mom's phone bill is 80% consituted by the line rental alone: she uses onetel for communications.

France Telecom sont des susseurs de bite d'anes.

Yeah I have also been really disappointed with them recently. Their new 'animal' tariffs are a complete waste of time and over priced....I used to be with orange for 3 years or so but as soon as the new tariffs were released i said good bye and good luck!

Yeah ditto above was with orange for 5 years and also hvc. Gave me really poor retentions deal and tried to give me the worst phone on the market and then mucked me about when I wanted my PAC code. Left to go to O2, best thing I ever did.
Dont get me wrong orange at one time was excellent. All seems to coincide with the fr telecom takeover.

I cant believe the animal tariffs they are doing at the moment. Such poor value for money Like I say O2 for me although I do like the look of these flext tariffs from t-mobile.

    Leave orange now I say

I concur with the OP - managed to get my PAC out of Orange this morning. Number ports to T-Mobile on the 4th July.

I am pleased to see so many people voting with their feet.

My family and friends, who were all on Orange, at my recommendation years ago, are now moving off. The last number ports in two weeks time. Most of us have now gone to O2.

Also, one of my friends who runs a business is moving their entire handset collection (about 50 handsets) away from Orange when the contracts are due for renewal in three months.

Moral of the story. Don't bother trying to barter with such a greedy rip-off company. Save your time and money and move away now.

I used to work for Orange (a couple of years ago) and in all honesty, they were crap then - they're even worse now.

The final straw for me was 18 month contracts to upgrade. Along with the itemised billing and Indian call centres, I'd far rather use T-Mobile - competitive mobile internet access, the ability to block reverse charge junk text messages (which no other network is responsible enough to provide) - even though they also require long contracts to get a decent deal, charge for IB and non-DD and to call customer services....
  • orange are not in my good books, ill be leaving asap!
