  • technically it was included, the trial (for the all singing/dancing version) lasts for 3 months whereby they hope you'll buy the licence for said version, the compatibility version that is left if you do not is perfectly adequate for most users needs.
This is loaded where you can only open it 21 times. not sure yet as to what will happen after the 21 times but it is not inclused if you have to PAY £60 or so to buy a full "all singing/dancing version"

Having a trial can not be classed as the whole thing is included and sales staff should be stating that extra has to be paid to continue use.

The same sales woman had pointed out that nortons system works or whatever it is called was a 60 day trial and even told her it was better to shop around than buy it from the link in the programme, so this same advice should have been given for all trialware.

What did the info on the card in front of the product say on it. It most likely said it was a trial in which case they have proof that at some point you had seen it was a trial. You could argue you were told otherwise but can you prove it?. No in short.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

I don't think Sainsbury's claim to give sales advice on laptops, you can't ask a normal worker whether it comes with Office, they will just read the box and it'll probably say Office installed*
    *60 day trial.

It is very unusual for a computer to have office installed because the home/student version costs £60 and if they installed that the laptop couldn't be used by businesses. If they installed the small business edition it would cost almost £200 so would put the cost up too much.

If this laptop were bought from PCWorld or any computer shop I would say you should get office, but it was bought in Sainsbury's!

ToZer, whats wrong with being organised for Christmas.

    There's organised and there's organised.

Afraid it was down to the petrol station on Christmas Eve evening for me again. Wife's De-icer Deluxe pack was all but used up anyway.

Most PCs come with a trial MS Office, when you first used the PC, you accepted these terms and conditions.

I doubt you have a case.
As others say, the issue is that the merchant made representations that it had MS office, so you are off target here

I suggest you use Open Office instead, which is free to home users

Yes, I find Open Office very adequate for my needs. Probably best not to mix thsi good advice with off beam consumer advice.

I just wish People would stay ON TOPIC. As a customer My Wife was told that the computer had Office installed, (and even Sainsbury's have departments hwere staff are trained to sell products from them departments) and it turns out only to be a trial is there a case to be answered?

ok it seems to me your wife asked if a product was on the laptop she was told it was

you get the laptop turn it on the products on there

so wheres the complaint ! be it a trial you got the correct answer to your question

and there's nothing wrong with the laptop so that's why they wont refund you
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

A product is not there is my point, if you have to spend more for it to be used for the life of the laptop then you are not getting the full product. you should be told on any product if further ppurchase is nessesery to use it. trialware is not the full product by deffination, so you should be told it is trialware as she was told the anti virus was.
  • just think if you bought say a movie dvd and it said you had to pay every time you view it, you do not have a movie you have a rental. same thing here in my view
