  • His medications have disappeared (why is that then?) you're not at all sure what's happening and still you are going to wait until tomorrow to take any further action?

I give up, really I do .. I'm already choked with helpless anxiety for you all and I fully expect to soon be reading the same newspaper report as Jojo.

Why did you ask us what you could do and what we thought and felt if you were so blasted sure that you knew all about it, knew just what to do, were fully in control of it all and needed no input from anyone else?

Tell me .. what does your mother, and other loving members of both your family and your husband's, advise you to do?

I know this thread is really disturbing and we all really want to help but i think we should try take a step back. I would hate for the OP to feel she couldnt come back on here for more advice or to update us.

  • I haven't posted any more because it is clear the OP was crying out and will only do what she wants when SHE wants and is ready. I just hope it is not too late.

You're all quite right and I did go somewhat OTT. I apologise to Evian, and to other readers.

I'm not very good at feeling so disturbed and anxious and yet be unable to do anything.

Wish you well OP and keeping my fingers crossed for an update from you soon that gives a happy ending. Good luck.

Evian, it's after midday, have you phoned for help, and did you receive any?
Is there anything else we can do to assist you in getting help for your OH (or to convince you that he really DOES need help and he will thank you for it once he is stable again, just in case you're still wavering)?

Just want to wish you luck with getting help.I know MH services can be hit and miss. I had to wait months to get an emergency appointment and treatment despite being suicidal. But i (and my bf) pushed for treatment and i know have a much better support network and regular appointments. I hope you can give your side of the story just in case he tries to pursuade them he is well when he's obv. not (ashamed to say i have done this before-thankfully bf was having none of it and told them how bad i'd been)

At the end of the day you're classed as his nearest relative so what you say should be heard and taken in account.

    Evian,

I just wanted to say good luck. Please keep chasing the GP/crisis team/whoever to get your OH help. If you have problems then try some of these organisations for advice:

    http://www.sane.org.uk/
    http://www.mind.org.uk/
    http://www.rethink.org/

My OH has diabetes and when I've struggled with it's impact, I've been able to ring the Diabetes UK careline - they have been a fantastic source of support to me, so I hope one of the organisations above, or some kind of national support society for people with schizophrenia and their families, can offer you some support right now.

I know my situation is very different to you, but I found the support of experts so valuable that I thought I would offer you this advice - for now or for the future. I've cried down the phone to them and found no judgement, just support. I'm sure out there is an organisation to give you the same.

Best wishes to you and your OH.
