    Hi

I've got to echo what everyone else has said, especially aliasojo about it not being him at the moment.

If you are unwilling to get him sectioned, will he go to doctors/hospital to be checked out ,as it does seem like he is not taking his meds.

When you go and tell the relevant people how he is acting, you have to pull no punches and tell them eveything.

Please dont think you are protecting him by not sectioning him . By sectioning him, if he wont get meds sorted, you are actually not only protecting him but anyone who comes into contact with him.

    This WILL only get worse
  • Leave. NOW.

Before he decides that he is at risk from an alien/vampire wife who has swapped his precious babies for little aliens/vampires and the only way to get them back is to remove the heads.

You may think that sounds melodramatic.

How many children have been murdered by fathers or mothers with severe mental illnesses in the last couple of years?

    Babies beaten to death.
    Children burned in arson attacks.
    Gassed in cars.
Teenage girls shot and burned in mansions
    Mums and babies stabbed
Mums and girls shot in backs of heads
Little boys stabbed or had their throats cut.

All news stories from the last couple of years.

None of their partners or families would ever have believed that he/she would have ever done anything to hurt their children.

If you do nothing and he does lose all grip on reality, you are more culpable than him.

Or you might be lucky, he might murder an innocent stranger or kill himself instead, rather than you and your babies.

That would be your fault too.

You have to do something. Either he's not taking his meds or they have stopped working.

Get out. Call the Mental health crisis team (ask the GPs surgery for the number). Go to the local authority as homeless if necessary (and don't take any nonsense from them - it is unsafe to remain there so you are unintentionally homeless)

Then change your doctor to one who has a clue what he is talking about.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I totally agree but i think with the case of the OP's husband he is showing signs of paranoia and not being in touch of reality. Does not mean every one who has or had a mental illness is dangerous then someone who hasnt.

  • Jojo didn't actually say that ALL mentally ill people are dangerous but I do agree with her: the OP needs to ensure her children are in a place of safety even if she can't or won't put herself in the same place.

Evian, I truly believe that the behaviour you have described is very, very alarming and am pleading with you to get your children away and contact the Police. Immediately. PLEASE

It is harsh. Her OH sounds like he needs help though. As per xXMessedUpXx's post mental health is a complex issue, so I would not like to generalise.

I'm worried about the OP, and her familys safety though. Could you phone up a womans shelter for advice?

Sorry felt the post was sensationalising it a bit is all

OP, are there any relatives who can look after the kids? If you ring NHS direct and explain the situation they can sometimes arrange for the crisis team to come to you. Other than that if you feel you are in danger then call the police.

I think she is being 'cruel to be kind' to get across to the OP the dangers of the situation,

    Job done I reckon.

A generalisation tarring all mentally ill people as dangerous is wrong and your point is absolutely valid and I agree with it.

But from what Evian has said I would rather be safe than sorry. She is probably correct that 'he' would never harm 'his kids' but 'he' is obviously functioning abnormally and if he believes they are not 'his kids' then they are not safe.

So OP, better safe than sorry and if you think that your mum's isn't safe enough then ring womensaid and get a place in a refuge. When/If his meds are sorted out and he can understand the situation that developed he will be racked with guilt and grateful that you took appropriate action to prevent any possibility of his illness harming his kids. Remember, it isn't him, it's his illness that is potentially dangerous. His illness doesn't love you. His illness doesn't love the kids.
