Exercise at least 3 times a week challenge

Thanks SandyC, I thought I would need to increase quite a bit before it began to effect my weight, (would also help if I stopped eating mince pies!!) I think I will stick to 3 x week until after Christmas, then gradually increase to 5.0
-
The 3x per week is massively beneficial though, in that it becomes a habit. If you steam in at 5+ times per week then see quick results it's less of a lifestyle change, more of a 'project'. Like a diet really. So 3x per week is easily doable, then you can increase it, adjust your diet as well if you want and you will probably find that even if you can't sustain more than that, or the food habit changes, you will at least still be doing that 'maintaining' exercise.
That's how I see it anyhow. I used to see a lady at the gym regularly and then she disappeared and I last saw her a couple of months ago. She said she had lost 4 stone this year but then stopped for a month and put 10lb back on in that time. If you see quick results you can often have not learnt at what level you can maintain your weight loss.0 -
Good advice SandC, thanks.
I know that when I have persevered with excercise in the past I have lost weight. I used to have to pass a local gym on the way home and popped in each night for 20 min only. This definately became a habit and I felt much healthier for it. Then I changed my job, I had to go out of my way to the gym, my habits changed and the excercise gradually slipped.
Step class tonight was cancelled so think I will fit a swim in tomorrow instead.0 -
Well I completely failed with this last week as I have been ill with a chest infection. The good news is I appear to have lost 4 lbs without even trying.
Still not feeling too good, so realistically it will be after Christmas before I can start doing much.
Hope you 'all' have a merry Christmas.

That happened to me when I went on holidays Jess - no exercise and all inclusive and yet I lost weight! Go figure! Think our bodies must have changed and work more effectively.
Have not waivered even in the bad weather. So have done 5x this week and might go tomorrow afternoon for a swim, will see! Managed 7x and 6x over the past couple of weeks.
Hope to see some more body changes in the new year when zumba and salsa start again.
Best wishes for Xmas everyone! :T0 -
Hiya everybody, I've never posted here before so hope it's alright. Basically I'm going to start this after new year, christmas is such an overindulgent time and I think because this winter has been so cold I've ate so much more (for extra padding lol) and totally given up on exersise.
I'm going to start going for a run atleast 3 times a week until I can afford to rejoin the gym (won't be in january as thats a skint month for me) just want to tone up and lose maybe a stone"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."0 -
Hi Berrybabe and welcome. Hopefully there will be a few more along to join us after Christmas.
I am feeling a lot better this week, so no more excuses. All of my usual classes at the gym are cancelled this week so I think I will dig out the Davina DVD and stay at home in the warm.

Hi everyone:wave:
I want to join in. I was doing pretty well anyway until the snow, now have gone to pot. Add on the huge amount of food I have eaten over Christmas... well, you get the picture.
Started today with a really good, long walk to the next village and back. Mostly uphill, hard work as still quite a lot of snow and ice about and walked for about 3 hours
I work full time, three 12 hour shifts a week so can only do stuff on the days not at work, but am up for the challenge.0 -
Hi everyone, so sorry for being gone for so long but became lazy after the wedding and have not done much exercise since the end of august.
But its a new year and I need to keep the exercise going.
Well done everyone for keeping going in my absence.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
Hi All,
Only managed twice last week.
I have added this challenge to my sig for 2011. Will add each week that I manage 3 times (aiming for 52, but realistically I know some weeks will be more difficult - holidays / Christmas, etc)
Here's to a fit 2011 everyone.0
