I also work shifts - I am a midwife. I was on-call last night after working 9-5 yesterday - I am normally out overnight when on-call so didn't exercise last night but then spent the night in bed although have to work today now.

I try to make sure I def do some on my days off and then fit in another one somewhere around my shifts.

Are we all doing this Mon-Sun or doesn't it matter. I am on SW so WI day is Sunday

I am a community palliative care CNS and although I don't work shifts anymore I do work long hours (eg tonight I got home at 8pm even though I do 8.30 - 5pm) and about 2 or 3 nights a week I am on call. It does restrict the times I can go to the gym because I hate to go when I am on call as it is half an hour away from the patients, plus time to get changed and make myself look slightly more respectable. But no excuses, I do have 3 days off a week! I'm gonna do this and lose the 8lb if not more. Having lost 3 and a half stone last year I have no intentions of putting it all back on. I lost my weight with weightwatchers and got to goal and still use the same basic principles, ie exercise, cut out the rubbish (or limit it) and eat lots of fresh, non-processed foods.

For anyone not able to get to a club can I recommend this months edition of Rosemary Conley mag as it is really inspiring and full of loads of recipes.

I am doing Sun - Sat, but I guess it doesn't really matter does it?

    Good Luck to everyone.:D
  • Hi

I thought it was Sunday to Saturday, is that right? It is interesting to see what people "count" as exercise. I walked for a good 90 minutes yesterday but I don't count it because it is just me trying to get about the place, not purposeful or quick.

I did half and hour on the Wii fit, which I do count. And I have a yoga class today as well.

    Ta ra for now!

I planned to go to the gym today but had to take my son to fracture clinic so never made it. I had a 'little' time in the afternoon before school finish time and decided to be 'good' and do my exercise dvd. How disappointed I was when I couldn't find it - not really! I was more disappointed when I actually found it. However, having done 2 of them, leaving me with legs like jelly I felt very virtuous indeed! I have just eaten a really lovely healthy tea and am more motivated than ever. I have set myself a challenge to run the race for life this year, wish me luck, I'll need it for sure!

I am counting it from Sun - Sat but its up to you how you count your weeks. I have not done much extra - apart from the situps and lunges since Sunday. Too tired today but will do my exercise dvd or something else tomorrow as wont have time to do it on Friday.

I am so bad! Still not been to the gym! Was planning on tonight but my sister came round, so still only 1/3 for the week. Must try harder...

Once for me so far this week. Walked from work to my friends house which is about 3 miles then walked from her house to train station, which is about 2 and a half.

I need to go back to the gym but having stopped for a couple of weeks (its a council one and the first whiff of snow and its closed!) I have kind of got out of the habit.
