I got my GHDs for Christmas 2 years ago and they're still going strong
I really like them as I have thick wavy hair which has a tendency to frizz (how sorry does everyone feel for me?!?! lol!) and it sorts my hair out in 15mins tops.
Also, I know my parents brought them from the internet and they got a free large size toni&guy straightening spray, shampoo and conidtioner with it because they emailed before buying and asked if they could 'throw anything in'. Mine are the thinner plates and I think they cost around £90 - well worth the investment

Another vote here for the Babyliss Pro 230's! I bought them off Amazon a while back and am really happy with them and I've tried a LOT of straighteners in the past! I think they are currently selling them on Amazon for £37.49 which is a bargain if you can't find them at Boots!
One extra thing I love about them is the heat resistant mat/bag so that when I'm finished with them I can put them straight in the bag and don't have to leave them out to cool down first0 -
I've recently bought the Babyliss Pro230 from Argos for half price (£37.49) and then saw them in Asda for £30
I'm very happy with them and they come with three hair grips to section your hair and a heat-proof mat and case. They heat up really quickly and do the job well. I just really couldn't justify spending all that money on GHDs.SPC #229= £103.76(2014)
VSP #11 = £74.11(2014) £85.55 (2015)
Crazy Clothes Challenge 2014 £33/£100, 2015 £44 / £100
DFBXmas2015 #10 £3000 / £3,000 (100%) :j

tried the ghd's and the babliss and thought it was hard work and fell in with a pair of remington wet to straight and i never looked back - they heat up quickly and have a veriable heat setting and cut the styling time in half (i don't have to dry my hair first :T ) and when my friend (part-time hairdresser) used them she was well impressed have been using them for about 3 years now and would be lost without them and i have longer than shoulderlength hair (if that makes sence) and a bad shoulder so the drying and them the straightening was a struggle
while i knit i think

Another GHD fan here and I'm shallow enough to say they 'changed my life' after years of struggling with thick, frizzy hair. When my first pair broke, I didn't think about other brands - a new pair were on my doorstep in four days (with Boots, Quidco, a discount code and a 10 points per pound weekend they were more like £70 than £125).
That said, I got my GHDs first when they were the only ceramic straighteners on the market and others may be as good now. It's just that I know they work and don't want to waste time and money finding out others don't (if that makes sense)!0 -
Wow thanks so much for this. I have alot to think about. I was looking on ebay but as most are fake, I won't be buying there
I must admit the babyliss ones look tempting as they are alot cheaper.
Thanks. My hair is shoulder length, there seems to be different sizes, which is best? narrow, wide??
I never thought it would be so complicated to do my hair
Great advise.0 -

Sorry not sure how to do a link. They are half price.
Yes its the ones that are now half price and are now £37.49 at Argos. Babyliss Pro 230 Elegance! Fab Straighteners!
On the subject of the Remington Wet to Straight ones I tried those and didn't rate them at all! A big thumbs down for the Wet to Straight ones!0 -
