BeatThatQuote.com refusing cashback

  • There is a further complication in that a small minority of the insurance panel members operate a procedure where the policy sale is credited to the last comparison website from whom a customer carries out a quote, even if they buy from an alternative source (we believe this is down to limitations and restrictions in the panel member’s own systems). Once again, this can mean that no policy sale or commission is credited.

I'm very surprised by this comment. The price comparison sites place a contractual obligation on all the companies that use them to be able to identify the correct source of the business. They also have a right of audit and penalty clauses if errors are found.

Are you seriously suggesting that you have no such terms in your contracts? If so, where is the value in using your service? You appear to be offering the possibility of cashback "provided something doesn't go wrong".

This is what concerned me when the initial cashback denial arrived. The BTQ quote said Budget was best, so I pressed buy, then Budget did another comparison before saying yes they are the cheapest. That's why I believe my claim was initialy disallowed and why, although I am now getting my money, I will not be using their service again.
  • Thanks City. I shouldn't expect them to respond to my question then...

I didn't see there was already another thread running before posting a message on the BeatThatQuote feedback thread. Sorry to confuse the issue!

My problem is that BTQ don't seem to answer email very quickly and, using their 0800 number, when put through to cars on their auto system, it always seems to be on Answerphone :(

My worry is that I arranged my insurance through them and was told to expect an email explaining how to get the £25 cashback but a week later haven't had this email. I would have thought this would have been automatic and pretty nearly immediate.

Having read this thread maybe I need to be more patient - or would you expect an email to be answered within 3 or 4 days?

Thats good news, it's odd though that they take a long time to respond to emails normally but when you post on MSE they suddenly respond very quickly...
  • Hi everyone - my first post so forgive me if its not quite right somehow.
I also took a car insurance policy through BTQ and have yet to receive any email at all outlining how I can claim the cashback. Although its only been a couple of weeks, I agree with Bashful that I wouldve thought that any email would be pretty much instantaneous after taking out the insurance through them. I have even emailed them twice now but havent yet received a response. By posting on here maybe I stand a better chance of getting an answer? It is slightly worrying though there seem to be a fair few people complaining about the same issues :(
