    One thing that worries me while reading the terms and conditions is point 1.1 regarding regular payments into your account:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    SMILEMORE, CURRENT AND STUDENT ACCOUNT, OVERDRAFT AND DEBIT (VISA or ELECTRON) CARD CONDITIONS
    The conditions set out below, together with the on-line application form, the definitions section in the smile general conditions, the smile tariff and any other conditions which may be implied by law, form the agreement between you and us (agreement). They tell you how your account works and what your and our obligations are once you open an account with us.
    1. Account basics
    1.1 To open an account you must:
    · be a UK resident and over 18
    · receive a regular payment (e.g. wage, salary, pension, etc) or at least £1,000 per month into your account
    If you do not continue to meet these eligibility criteria we reserve our right to end the agreement or any agreed overdraft limit in accordance with condition 10 of the terms and conditions.'
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Have people who have previously taken us the wine offer had to put in at least 1K every month, or have you just got away with putting in the required 1.5K by the set date?

    Also, I'd like to say that I think their customer services is great (so far). I had an internet problem when filling out the application form and they were quick to answer my call and dealt with me in a polite manner and very quickly.

    Though my view might change if I don't get my wine...... :rolleyes:

    You only need to put £1,000 in per month if you don't have your wages, pension or benefit paid in each week/fortnight/month.
    It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
    (OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • I put £2k in the account and took it out the next day and got my wine from Smile. I don't credit £1k per month they just want your pay putting in. Had to nag for my wine code tho, and don't send cheques through the post for paying in they don't seem to reach Smile. Wines fine tho and it's always nice to have something for free.

    Well I've signed up, but I got a secure message via their website to tell me that I need to call them (on an 0870 number) to confirm my address details. I spent ages in a call queue before giving up. When I looked on the website, I found that there isn't a way to reply to secure messages. A bit frustrating!

    I'm not really too impressed with the customer service so far. I hope the wine is better!

    You can find a geographic number for them at the saynoto0870 website, and it least it works. However, there is always a long wait to speak to anyone.

    However, you certainly can send them secure messages (and reply to theirs) one you have an account: this is the main way to comunicate with them, so the poor telephone service is less of an issue.

    Got through to them today, it was just a chance for them to get more bits of information about me - Where were you born, who do you currently bank with etc. Some of it was probably for marketing purposes, but it's probably also used for security.

    Can't wait to get my hands on my free wine :)

    Hmm they charge you £7.50 a month for this account, not such a bargain then!

    That's the Smilemore account. Luckily this one, their standard current account, has no monthly fee.

    I just wanted to add I joined my smile account under a similar offer a few years ago and it is fab. A lot easier to use online than Clydesdale bank (I gave up on that!).
    I love the ethical side of Smile and it is so use friendly. If you ever do have to phone up, all the telephone people seem to be lovely too.

    Would recommend Virgin wines also. They always have special offers - I don't know if we have ever paid full price for a case. (you seem to get a £20 voucher every time you get a case or buy something from Figleaves. You also get a figleaves voucher with a case.) and the best thing is that if you don't like a bottle they just credit you with how much it cost - no questions asked.

    It may be easy to use once you sign-up but is anyone experiencing the same problem as me trying to sign-up? When I get to entering the memorable date then press the next button it keeps coming up you have entered invalid characters. Please try again. I am sure that I am entering this as instructed e.g. 05/07/2006. :confused:
