thanks for all the replies once again, without the useful comments and hep i think i would have been left high and dry i'm just about to re read the threads and then finish off my letter. although i got a text from egg this morning telling me to log into my account..
the arrears and purely the transctions whch arent mine and the two months interest they have charged on them.
also i got the dispute form and it states on it that in order for egg to dispute the transactions then i have 60 days from the statement date which the transactions appear on. Now the statement is the october statement but as i only found out this week that i will have to dispute them it seems unfair that i cant do it because of this 60 day rule. If we had this conversation in maybe november then i would still have had a chance.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
Im pretty sure all aol supplied routers have security on them:idea:0

Ok just to annoy the ones that said I didn't know what I was doing I tried going into the network setting via the control panel of the laptop and changing the security settings, can't connect to the internet at (typing this from a phone) just realise that the wep code was back of the 02 router tried putting that in now and it says its wrong, originally went online and got a wep generator using my own phrase tried that and its still not working. Shall I remove the network and start again, ie set it all from scratch.
Edit.
i dont know how but ive got it connected again using the wep code on the back orf the router, when i go into the settings of it again it shows the following..
now it shows shared, and WEP and then there is a password in the password box, can i safely assume that its protected?Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

Make your mind up. Only yesterday you told us that you had no wireless encryption (open network).
WEP was introduced over 10 year ago and it was superseded over 7 years ago by WPA due it being virtually useless and very easy to defeat!
WPA2 is the latest encryption generally in use and anyone now still using WEP is a muppet! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I wont rise to being called a muppet, i'm only typing what i see in the box. I'm pretty new to all this, and this afternoon i have been playing around with it, as i put yesterday thats what it was, as i have today - thats what it was after i was playing around with, nothing other than that..
im just going to put you on the ignore list. also i'm quoting whats on the back of the router so 02 are muppets aswell then.
Thanks for your help so far but if you cant help any further or what i'm saying is annoying you i'd rather you jog on and try to wind up someone else.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

You have been told by several different people that you need to properly secure your wireless network. Ignorance is not an excuse and if you can't be bothered to read the manual and do this, then you deserve to get ripped off! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Stolt whats the latest with this then, have you setup the encryption,0

And i was trying to do just that. And i have to disagree with you, just because someone has less knowledge than you, it doesnt mean they deserve to be ripped off.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

hi, i think i have although when i click on the manage network connections and click on my connection , this is what i have, is the shared wrong, when i go to change it i get issues trying to connect to the inernet, just a red cross shows next to the network.
ive googled setting up wireless security for 02 box and i come across this security threat (i wasnt looking for anymore problems lol), ... so i'm lost now whether i can get it secure.
