No disrespect mate, but id be seriously questioning the wife at this stage. Ive known quite a few friends now who never questioned their wife/husband and lived to regret it.
Everything about this case suggests it was done by a family member to me
The overriding thing for me is the Verified by Visa aspect. Whenever I buy online, and am taken to this site, it asks me for three random letters from my password, NEVER the full password. Even if the card details were obtained illegally after the card was used in an internet cafe to do a Sainsbury's order, they would still need to know the full password to order anything else.0 -

that is true but it hasnt always been that way, for a good number of years and i'm sure on some sites i still have to put the whole number in, but just recently have i noticed that it only asks for liek sya certain characters of it. bearing in mind that i have used that cafe (and that the only place i can assume it has happened) but i have used it for near on 2 years bascially every 2-3 months.
and no offence taken but its definatley not the wife, shes really not into computers and buying stuff online, I only just got her to the monthly food shop online, she still wanted me to drive down the store on a weekend and queue up!!:D:rolleyes:Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
ok, a bit more information i got some information from one of the merchants this lunchtime apparently aswell as my home address there is an address in hull and the name is leroy brown. they gave me the address and i goggled it and its a youth hostal in Hull. I phoen the youth hostal but they don't recognise that name!!! arrgh I should ahve to be doing all this. i'll put it in my letter. i spoek to the the.hut who the Ccv said they had spoken to and they wouldnt give any details i explained politley was happening and she said that she coudlnt suppl any details to me, i asked if there was an address on there in Hull and she said yes but thats all she can give, she did say that wasn't a transaction that was despatched to that address but that there was some cancelled transactions. So cryptic I jsut need a simple answer. i dont even know anyone in Hull.

My litle sister knew how to use ebay with no problem aged 7
Exactly!
I suspect this isn't fraud at all but a mistake...
I was writing BBC Basic programs when I was 7, most kids nowadays know exactly how to use the Internet at an early age, I know 4 year olds you can operate a mobile phone...0 -
I would stop all payments to Egg, send them a letter stating you are not paying for something you did not buy and that maybe now they will take this fraud seriously and act upon it to protect their customer ie YOU0

Expensive mistake, they have clocked up £300.00 worth of stuff. Even creating an account themselves (as they are not on my regular account) I can definatley say hand on heart its not any children playing around with the laptop we have.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

I've started my letter today, its turned into a right mammoth letter, will have to take it home to finish it, have included all the secure messages i sent egg staff back in october and they kept sending wrong forms for me to fill out etc. I know i have to wait until complaints get back to me, but i just feel i'm going to be fobbed off and go straight to them ombsbudsman.
thanksListen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
I usually find that when writing to these type of companies that the shorter the letter the better and don't state anything that you have found out, it's not your place as they will query everything. Turn the tables on them by being very short on facts etc. it is their place to help you not the other way round.0
