scraping the windscreen (ice)

Why do people stand there with a scraper scraping the ice away all you need to do is buy de-icer and spray it on. Its much quicker and easier! No need to scrape.
because the quickest way to kill wiper blades other than ripping them off is de icer ??
or because once its scraped it wont freeze again ?
or because it stops the car smelling of de icer ?
or because a good scraper beats de icer in negative temps like - 5 ??If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

And if you have streams of frozen water leading down your driveway onto the pavement, it's a bit of a giveaway.0

I've got front and rear heated screens - by the time I've scraped the side windows - car is all clear. I used de-icer years ago - and found that the fumes from it came into the car - not pleasant..... not used it since.
If you get iced up inside - employ Goldspangles - he thaws me out very nicely .. :rolleyes:Genie

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T:T:T:TOr could be because the de-icer is empty as OH used it to defrost puddles to see if it would work!:mad:whatmichaelsays wrote: »I've found de-icer to be crap. Just leaves a smudgy, smeary mess on the windscreen. Much better results with scraping.
This..
I only ever use de-icer if my car is absolutely covered in thick frozen over snow to soften it up a bit and remove the worst.0 -
In the 99p store they sell a windscreen cover, I gave one to my friend who says it has worked really well. I dont have a problem clearing the screen myself as I use the bus!0

I went to the garage this morning to fill up only to find that my petrol cap was completely frozen shut. Had to get back in the car and drive off, I felt like a right tool.
I use de-icer as well as scraping. The heater in my car isn't that powerful and the ice has been very thick (to the point where my doors have frozen shut and needed to be pried open) and my screenwash is frozen despite being almost neat. If I relied on scraping only I'd be there all day, and I can't be bothered traipsing back and forward with warm water.0 -
No offence, but I don't think he's my typejeannieblue wrote: »If you get iced up inside - employ Goldspangles - he thaws me out very nicely ..
