scraping the windscreen (ice)

    Because the last few times I've tried de-icer, its just done half the job and then left frozen ice/de-icer on the windscreen which I then have to scrape off anyway. Unless its rained and then frozen (so the car is covered in a sheet of hard ice) the powdery stuff scrapes off nicely if you have a decent scraper.

  • fill a watering can or a couple of big milk bottles with cold water, pour on, drive off

    de icer contains alcohol which with prolonged use/exposure to the rubber seal around your windscreen will perish it. Its also more efficent to use luke warm water
    Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

    Your side windows obviously never freeze, or you don't see the need to be able to see out of them?

    I find standing on the bonnet and P*ssing on the screen is both envo friendly and free, neighbours are impressed as well :rotfl:
