I'm really struggling too. All the stuff is off the floor and in piles on the bed but I can't decide what to do with it. There is too much to put away (that's why it was on the floor) and I seem incapable of making any decisions. Feeling really depressed have had tea and biscuits and now feel fat and depressed. Maybe I should do yours Jo and you could do mine! I'm sure we could be more rational about each others mess.

Use the timer like Jo is. And the activity should help with the feeling fat & depressed :D. Do you use the stuff in the piles? Do you use the stuff that is put away? Get a binbag and put all the stuff in it that a. doesn't fit and b. you don't like/don't use. Get another binbag and put summer clothes into it - you can put these to one side and sort them out later. Put the binbag of stuff to get rid of IN THE CAR!!! And leave it there till you get a charity bag or pass a clothes bank/charity shop. Then put the stuff you DO want to keep away. If there still isn't room, you've still got too much, so go through it again. Deal with one drawer/shelf at a time and it becomes manageable.

It sounds as if you're totally overwhelmed, so I think you'll probably be best off being brutal. If you get rid of something that you could have used, it doesn't matter... what's the chance of you actually finding it when you need it?

Right... really must finish this ironing!

Bedroom again today? Did that last week. Surely it doesn't need doing for another month or so? *g*

ETA: Maybe that's how I got in this mess in the first place.
That was the kinda comment that was made to me this morning...."there is nothing to be done in the bedroom, it is fine"

    I think I have a mess avoider/ blind man here:rotfl:

Could you try and deal with a cupboard or chest of drawers then? Just sweep a space on the floor, pull it all out and sit with a bin bag and decide what can go to charity? I've just done it and even though I did it about 4 months ago there is yet more stuff that I haven't touched for a year - so it's going! I've respectably filled a bin bag for the charity shop again :o Be ruthless. I'll be happier with a clear space to live in than another black top that I probably still won't wear or a bra that I'll probably never fit into again!

If you can clear a bit of space in the cupboards then hopefully the superficial stuff that keeps getting pushed around will end up with a home :)

I wouldn't even bother with making the bed if you're that stressed - you'll only get into in a bit anyway! :rotfl:

Make a cup of tea, put the radio on and do a bit. And then tell us you feel a bit better :)

I myself have failed somewhat in that all my lights have blown on the landing. If I want to clear it then I'm going to have to go down to Focus for special bulbs :( I really should do this - I mean light on the landing and up the stairs probably is important, isn't it?! I just need another tidy round, a hoover and to replace the bulbs in here and I'm done in the bedroom at least. (only 2 hours later and I did this room on Saturday!)

Hello everyone and Happy New Year :T

Hope everyone had a great festive season, we have had an excellent one, children went back to school today so the mayhem has calmed down a bit. I havent been on here for a good 2 weeks I reckon so have a lot of catching up to do.

Hugs to everyone who may need them, and hope you all are doing ok.

Thanks to Soappie, Toots and pigpen for all your amazing hard work last year on the thread, and for this nice shiny new one :)

I'm in, sort of this week. Spent all day sorting finances and can now proudly say
MY CREDIT CARDS ARE ALL AT ZERO:T:T:T:T:T
I am removing them from my purse so I just cant use them.
Rest of the week I just want to catch up on the general mess and laundry etc.

Now we are back on an even keel moneywise we have decided to try and save up to take the children to Florida either next year (when they will be 7,6,3) or the year after (when they will be (8,7,4) depending on how much we can save. We already save our child benefit every month and are hoping to match that by cutting back and doing stuff like mystery shopping, ebay etc.

We priced it up over the hols and its a tall order but if we have no goal to save for we will just not save properly.

    Afternoon

Hope all you flyladies stay safe - glad you got home in one piece Valli.

Looking at the forecast, I think a lot of us are going to get snow tonight. We've had some here which is unusual, but it's turned sleety again. It was quite funny, when the reporter was here, and it started to snow, he asked if I minded if he phoned the office just to update their "snow watch" patrol!

But two meetings successfully decluttered in my kitchen. The first, with the reporter, was interesting. I think I've persuaded him there's no story there to write about because he said he probably wouldn't do a piece on it. Seems the usual community suspects were trying to stir things up.

The second community meeting was also successful and we are going ahead with plans for an event in the park in June. We need a bank account though - does anyone (AnW's perhaps?) know about setting up community accounts and the hoops that need to be gone through?

Right, just going to say hello to Gordon and then think about dinner. Stay safe out there ladies.
